Today the lovely State of Michigan is raising the cost for licence plates by 20%. Like we don't pay a huge amount right now on all 7 vehicles I own. That may put the SS plates near $200 per year. They are also raising the cost of the drivers licence from $13 to $25. Thank You Grandholm! [Mad]

Gotta love those federal tax cuts...Bush said he did want people to spend their cuts...guess where they're going? And then some? So in effect, the states are going to get more "federal funding" in a round about way anyway, it seems. [Wink]

Just be happy you don't live in the state of graft and corruption. Illinois and the political base sucks.

And it was the past REPUBLICAN Governor that couldn't be re-elected because of term limits that ran up the huge deficit that he stuck to the incoming Democrat governor that has to clean up his mess!!

Greg, believe it or not, that's a bargain here. My car was well over $200 when I re-registered in March and it is 3 years old. Now, after the political screw ups here, next year's fee may be TRIPLE what last year's was! [Eek!] Not looking forward to it to say the least.

Now that is expensive! Our plates are based off the base price of the car since 1984,so any car 1983 and older goes by weight. The kicker is that the price of the plates only drops a little bit and then stays the same forever.I just paid big bucks for plates for my 1990 beater Suburban! [Frown]

you're lucky you only pay $25 for a lic. let alone $13 in the past. I had to pay $65 for mine a year ago. however, our registration is much lower, only about $45-$50 every two years. [Smile]

It looks like we get a deal here in Ontario at around $75 (about$52 US) a year for plates and $50 for five years for our driver's licence.

y'all got it easy in addition to registration fees (my 1978 beater just cost me $60 for a 2 year registration) we have taxes (which are supposedly slowly being eliminated) in cars every year! the beater is worth less than the threshhold amount so it had no tax... but the Firhawk cost me $300 for local taxes.. which I have to pay every year until the tax is elimiated... Next year I have to get my "GRRRRR" plates renewed I'd hate to see what RI will charge for their renewal [Frown]

They never clean up a damn thing regardless of their party. They should not be spending money they don't have.
There is never a cut in spending which is required far more than tax increases.
The dollar is devalued when they deficit spend.
