Someone keyed my SS, along the right rear quarter panel. Zaino isn't going to fix this, it looks like it is almost completely through the primer. It was probably even done in my carport.
They better hope I never find out who they are. I can't believe how low so many people are, such cowards.

Geeez Kevin. Really sorry to hear about that news. From what it sounds, i dont think even a mild abrassive rubbing compound will work
I'm waiting for the day that my car gets keyed. Since i work in the ghetto of the city Posted by cytruffle (Member # 1733) on :

Apparently it was a couple young neighbor kids playing on their scooters in my driveway and up onto my carport. A neighbor saw them. Guess I'll be going to talk to their parents tomorrow and give them the bad news about an impending bill they'll have to pay for.

What a horrible feeling to come out and see that on your car! I'm glad that you're able to determine who the responsible people are. please keep us posted on whether the parent are prepared to demonstrate to the kids how to behave responsibly! Good luck!

Elie

Wow, that sucks. At least if it was kids by accident you don't have to worry about someone doing damage again for personal reasons against you.
We all feel for you. Posted by Showgun (Member # 1930) on :

Sorry to hear it Kevin. If you have a good body shop, they'll make it like new..try not to worry too much.

Been there ... done that ... had that sick feeling deep down in the gut. They did my complete drivers door.
Colormelt did a pretty good job of fixing it up.
It's unfortunate that there is no way to get 99.9% of people to understand how we feel about/care for our cars. Posted by ss_rs_z (Member # 1888) on :

Maybe they do know PoSSum and are jealous of seeing someone enjoy the pleasure of owning one.
I am very sorry to hear about your car Kev. At least you know who is responsible and hopefully their parents will pay for the damage.

It's more fun when done "personally".
I talked to the kids father today, he REALLY felt bad. He offered to pay for it and was going to make the little kids come over and apologize. These are small kids that just don't understand, so it is hard to be too pissed about it. Now I just need to decide what I want to do, just get that fixed or wait until after winter and do the different things I'm wanting to do, such as the nose, hood and a few other little things and of course what ever happens to it over the winter.

They know enough to key a car.....
Hope you get it fixed just like new! Posted by Kevin V 2002 SS (Member # 1025) on :
They didn't actually key it. They were riding on their little scooters on my driveway and up on the carport. The area of the scratch is where there is little room between the car and the roof support. Their scooter handles don't have any rubber handles on them. So as one of them tried to go through, the handle bar scratched the car. These kids are like 7-9 years old.
At least it wasn't done maliciously.

At least the parents acted responsibly. Not that your car is better, but it does help to know the act was not intentional. I'm sure it will turn out well when repainted...

Glad to hear that at least the mystery has been removed from the equation on this. I'm hopingthat you're feeling a bit better about it. Now... where's a good body shop? I have to have my front clip done after this weekend's jaunt on the highway. A lid from a tin can flew off a truck and ground into the front like a circular saw!
Best regardSS,
Elie

Hope the scratch can be fixed and the paint blended nice.I too had a neighbor kid drive his bike into the garage when I had a brand new 1992 Tahoe LT Blazer.Darn handlebar made a 3" scratch in the right 1/4 panel right down to bare metal.I yelled at that kid and he never was allowed to ride that bike in my back yard again.I ended up filling the scratch with Duplicolor paint stick touch up and built up the coats needed than wet sanded the area and buffed.
