GM of the U.S. stayed with the 3000 number, but GM of Canada upped their number of cars for whatever reasons. Posted by Travisnd1 (Member # 1982) on :

It gets a little muddy. The records show 3369 as built, (according to Scott S) but 2 are "missing". I believe one was destroyed in transit and the other one is ??? So the "official" count is 3367. It is an ongoing project to begin laying a foundation for the 35th Annv LE Registry. Teri and I are hoping to have it linked from the home page of the SSOA. Build counts and options will be detailed there. Look for further development this fall.

SLP built 3369 cars for GM. What they did with them, who knows. Posted by Harry (Member # 1834) on :

It was probably due to the unanticipated demand for them in Canada. We ordered ours on October 30th, 2001 and it took almost four weeks to find out if my dealer could get it or not.

actually, there was more demand than we planned to build. But we published 3,000 for the U.S. and some of us felt that it would be wrong to increase the number......
The build count shows 3,369.....I believe the 3,367 refers to "Saleable" 35th Anniversaries...... we built one in the U.S. that was not saleable......and I'm not sure where the other one went...... (one of those mysteries of life.....kinda like "how does GINO manage to screw so many things up! )

Scott, Why do I recall something about one having to be "replaced" due to a transit accident? I thought the car was a total loss. Oh well, I hit 40 and the memory just goes to pot.

Who got the SS/LE's with the last numbers? Numbers 3,367 and 3,368 and 3,369 are they registered anywhere? I would like to see where they went. Jim

As far as I know Matt Murphy of GMMG has the last LE. It now has a C5R motor in it.
