Anyone know the GM stance on orange peel paint - I saw an article on the cause, and it appears to be due to the method of painting at the factory...will they repaint your car under warranty??

I haven't heard anything about this.
I have a '99 SS which had some orange peel as well. I used Zaino's clay bar, along with Z2 and Z5, and the paint surface looks much better.
Dont know if thats any help?

Every manafacture has orange peel.... next time your at the grocery store look at the different makes... The main reason really is the EPA.... manafactures in the interest of keeping air pollution down put barely enough paint on to do the job. I would stick with the factory paint... nothing done afterwards will be as good of quality of what you have now. Even "IF" you could get GM to cover under warranty they don't allow a lot of time so your not going to get a $5000 paint job.... most likely you'll won't be as happy with the repair..... if it we me I would stick with what I have...

Both my 02 SS and my dads 02 SS have peel bad. My passenger door looks like it went through the paint shop twice... my dad has thin paint on his hatch and rear 1/4's... and mine has a spot where they didn't paint well under the hood... I plan to leave mine as is.... plus the peel gives it a little "personality"
