I lost the small rubber piece that the drivers side windshield wiper rests against. I went to the dealers to buy a replacement piece and the parts guy said I had to buy the entire cowl, that's rediculous. That is like having to buy an engine to replace a gasket. Has GM really gotten that greedy or just plain stupid???
If anybody knows where I can get just the rubber piece, please let me know.

its not just GM.
Went to get a spare set of valve caps for my family van... Chrysler didnt sell just the caps. They were going to make me buy the cap/stem/pressure sensor assembly.

Yep. I have had this happen on many cars over the past several years. Even if I had a part #, the part was only available if I bought a set, an attachment, or whatever they deem to be a piece of the part.

Maybe if I can find a part # I can get it through GM Parts Direct???

I had the exact same problem! At least GM parts direct offers the cowl for alot less (I recall it was about $30), but you pay through the nose for shipping.
I was considering making the part somehow.

Hate to tell you but a lot of parts out there are what are called non-serviceable. They will make you buy the whole componient rather then some small widget....

Kevin I had the same thing happen just before going to Superfest last year and was told the same thing at the parts counter and I ask if I needed a rubber bumper for the door did I have to buy the door. I was in luck the service manager at that dealer I knew and I told him and he said come back tomorrow which I did and he pulled one out of his pocket and gave it to me so I guess there was a new camaro on the yard without one huh.

Go to mall.
Find a 4thgen car in the lot.
...
LOL I think a junkyard would be your best bet. Those stupid wiper things are just as bad as the little rubber stops that the fuel filler door rests against (thanks Thom for pointing that out to me )
