I just got off the phone with Sherman at Welly die cast.
Welly is making a limited run of approximately 1600 1:18 scale SS coupes in Sunset Orange Metallic. If there are interested people, we can make special provisions for you to obtain one of these 1:18 scale S.O.M. cars direct from the manufacturer.
I will be receiving an email with details very soon and will post when it arrives.

What's funny is, Sherman said he had just returned from a trade show, I responded, "SEMA," (he was surprised I knew what SEMA was) so I proceeded to tell him that I had just viewed a picture of the 1:24 scale cars.
He was surprised that I'd already seen pics and asked whose they were. I told him that they were from someone at SLP.
He said, "Oh, David Hamburger?" I replied, "Yes"
He asked how well I knew Dave, etc....I told him I had never heard of the dude. (...but then again, I don't get daily telephone updates from him. That's only for the special people...)
(kidding!).
Small world....

Teri, Please put me on the list. I appreciate it, I've been looking for one of those for a long time. I had pretty much given up hope that anyone would make one. I was about ready to try and make one myself.

Sure, add me to the list! I had given up on painting the all white SS that I have. I even contacted them about the SS decals on the side, since I couldn't see a way to mask them off without the white showing. Plus, all the inside door jams, under the hood, etc. Thanks!

Well, Welly hasn't sent me that email as promised, so if there is a source to obtain a SOM die cast from, I'd say go for it so no one misses out.
Sorry about that....Sherman said he'd send me the info, but it seems like it's going to be more hassle to get them directly from Welly than from one of their distributors that already has them in stock.
Thanks for the source, Pete. Posts: 7198 | From: Near Portland, Oregon, USA | Registered: Feb 2000

Sherman at Welly just got back to me w/a price on the SOM die casts.
It looks like they are doing case sales on these, so if you want to get together with a few people in your area, that's the way to go.
quote:$10.50/pc. in pack of 6. plus shipping cost from Hayward CA. .... can ship direct to clubs.
(We'll probably get one case to split w/people in the Portland, Oregon area.)
