1.Powder coat the valve covers red and at the same time get my TB ported and coated red also. 2.Get the car tuned. finally. 3.After having them sit in my garage for a year, install my 3.73's. Just have to find where. 4.Upgrade the front brakes to C5 status with red p.c. corvette calipers, Eradispeed front 2 piece rotors and sand and paint that ugly rusted piece of metal Black. You know what i'm talken about 5.Before it comes back out, new meats. KDW's.
That should get the blood rolling in my wife and break the bank, or increase credit card debt.

I know exactly what your going through. This spring our condo goes up for sale and after it sells, construstion on ours will start. The land already has a garage, well, and this week a septic was installed. The garage is where I keep the SS. The land is located next to the condo complex. And its nice that I build houses for a living as well. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Have fun. My exhaust has and was the hardest, or should I say, biggest pain in the axx mod I did. The headers were a butt getting up in there, the y-pipe had to be trimmed to fit, and the gmmg and cme is actually still in process of getting complete. The cme tips go on next week. Lots of frustration in those mods for me, I hope yours go much better.
Watch those header bolts, so you don't strip or cross thread them. Posted by poSSum (Member # 119) on :
Turn the SS back into a near stock fair weather car and the Zed into a dedicated autoX car.

Camswap with springs retainers and pushrods
4.10 or 3.73 gear swap
install ORPs
SFCs
Dyno tune
Maybe a few more things, but that's the jest of it Posted by JohnS (Member # 1073) on :
Well, I was going to get a new roof & SFC's installed, but I've already got those done early. I want to paint the brake calipers and add the Camaro decals, but this will have to wait 'til it gets warmer.
So, I guess it'll be just adding more coats of Zaino, until Spring comes. Posted by Brian's 01 SS (Member # 1499) on :

What gear are you leaning towards? I have read traction problems with 4.10's. Also something about a smaller pinion or something. aka a weeker rear end. Not sure if that is fact or not.

Probably complete in early 2005. Yes, doing most of the work myself with the help of a good friend. The only thing I'm not doing is fabricating the tube frame and the body & paint.

Still not sure which ratio to choose. I was leaning towards the 3.73, but have read that the double overdrive of the M6 (0.85 and 0.50) really works well with the 4.10s. I'm not a 1/4 miler so I don't plan on slamming it through the lights and the excess stress shouldn't be as pronounced. I've read that 4.10s will cruise at 70mph in 6th at 2,000 RPM...the 3.42s equals 90 MPH.

We don't have winter in South Florida, but if we did I would be finishing the LS6 conversion with dyno tuning, custom LT headers and cats replaced. Racaro seats (for comfort), Moda R6 18X9.5 wheels with Micheline Pilot radials. That should sent the wife into orbit and my savings account to hell. Posted by Bandit (Member # 1867) on :
The New Hawk will get
Air Lid - still don't know which one STB and SRC 160 stat Trans Shift Kit Y pipe Exhaust- Still thinking about Gauge Cluster Tunning.

Yes,the new air filter will be installed.I think it is time to change it since I have over 12,000 miles now.The oil willget changed again and tires rotated.I really need to find the time and clean the underbody again. It was last done in September at the NEOCC Fall Classic but drove thru a bunch of rain on the way home....so it needs to be detailed again before it gets too cold.

My winter project is to get the wife out of orbit and credit card balance out of the stratosphere from all my past mod's and repairs. Posted by HTWLSS (Member # 117) on :
Oh, where to start....
Well, for one, we are still working on the inside of the garage. Still need power, water, heat, insulation, sheet rock and finish work. That will progress as funds and time allow (we're busy and working on paying off building materials to get the garage where it is now).
The car projects will also continue (mostly on the '98), as Steve transforms it into a complete car and swaps the automatic for a 6-speed.

My "winter" projects:
I plan on gutting the interior and dynamatting the floorpan and doors and perhaps some dash panels to cut down on rattles and help out the stereo system. I also need to detail the undercarriage since my car is no longer a daily driver and it will stay fairly clean.
The good thing is that it's never REALLY winter here in Southern CA. Posted by OBSSD (Member # 1258) on :
Now that it looks like I may finally be getting a couple grand from Farmers (from my 2+ year old diminished value claim), I'm thinking I may do the Ground Control coil-overs this winter.

Well my last summer and winter project was building a 1344 sq. ft. garage and a 272 sq. ft. addition on the house. Now I have the room I need so this winter I am starting a frame off restoration of my 70 Monte Carlo. Posted by KevinA (Member # 139) on :
PPC long tube headers.
Unfortunately I spent my cam and intake money while I was on vacation so I'll have to save all over again for that project!

Definitely a lid & maybe some SFC's. This spring the SS is going to be treated to some chrome C5 or Z06's. Haven't decided which wheels to get yet.
