A cool effect for car shows is a set of nice strobes for your SS. I have had a set of Whelen 60 watt strobes in all my hot rods and it get all kinds of attention at car shows. While most of these kids (and some adults) use the strobes from Pep Boys or Auto Zone, nothing beats a set of "real" strobes.

Not that I would drive around town with these on, being a former police officer, i know better.. lol (They might get turned on by accident though. Great for tailgaters!) I tried to get the speed of the flash more realistic, but my gif animator wont speed it up that fast. (But im sure you have seen them in a police car or other emergency vehicle, so you know how fast its supposed to be)

Power Supply

Strobes

OR, you can get them from this guy. I know several people that have purchased from him, everything has been ok and he is a bit cheaper priced.
StrobesForLess

What i have is the same as the "60W CSP660CCCC COMPACT STROBE KIT W STROBES" kit he sells.
These are VERY BRIGHT! I have them set on low power and it blinds you.

I am the county medical examiner, and use my strobes from time to time on the road. My front strobes are located as shown on SS891's post; but, my rear strobes are mounted behind the amber turn signal lenses. I have a dash-mount controller that gives me about 36 different flash patterns and intensities, as well as allowing me to control the front and rear strobes seperately.

I used to work for a race track and had a Monte Carlo pace car that the dealer installed those for me on. I started getting the check engine light, and the dealer said the gas cap was loose. I told him I checked that, and I could smell gas when we drove the car around the banks of the race track. Turns out, when they mounted the strobe light box in the trunk, and they drilled the mounting holes through the top of the gas tank. That could have been a spectacular problem! [Eek!]

I got my strobe lit and wig wag kit from John in Indianapolis,In. He owns the AllMaxx company that sells several different types of strobe kits to police and fire departments. They are the real thing with 90 watt strobe bulbs.I have installed these on several Camaros so far and everyone loves them. They are really bright in the daylight. Many of the Camaro shows I attended this year had a ploice escorted cruise and the cops loved the idea of having my strobes on for more visibility. Give John a call at (317)407-0647 or shoot him an e-mail at allmaxx911@hotmail.com
Tell him Greg sent you and you may recieve a discount! [Cool]

Has anyone ever had any water problems getting into the lights when you put these strobes in? Also how difficult is it to change the strobe when it burns out?

Thanks!

No water entry in my headlamps or tail lamps. There are rubber gaskets under the strobe bulb socket or the strobe bulb socket is rubber itself. The bulbs are made to last 1000's of flashes too. [Smile]

I will upload the actual videos to my server tonight when i get home. You will need a cable modem or better, unless you want to wait all night to see them. I will post the links.

Try www.strobesnmore.com
I purchased the Superpak 60 with the optional control switch, and am very satisfied with the product.

Here is the videos. Both are about 2.5MB in size. My server is very fast, so if you have a good connection, you will be ok. I have them set up to switch patterns, as you will see...

See below Posts for links
