I did the BMW performance driving school last year at an old airport in Toronto. We used 330's with a custom switch to turn off the traction control. Training included an autoX course and a wet skid oval course. We were put in pairs taking turns driving the cars. Prizes were awarded at the end of the course for best autoX times.
It was a blast (with the traction control turned off - can you say donut?).

We've had a couple of SSOA trips to Bragg-Smith Advanced Driving School. I went through the Level I course, several others here on the board also completed Level II.
SSOA Director, Craig Leres has recently returned from his third time there. He has a great website that lists some good information on mods and SS stuff.
Go to THIS LINK to see pics from the many driving schools he's attended.
I'd recommend taking advantage of any opportunity to go through a driving school if you can afford it. It's a blast and can keep you on your toes in case you're ever faced with a driving predicament on the road.

hey there, missy.....I'd definitely suggest a professional driving school before attempting something like you see on TV........and also...don't try it on public roads..........

After a while, the instructor (a retired professional road course racer) realized that I was intentionally doing the donuts (doughnuts ) and that it wasn't because of my poor driving skill (that's another story, as a few cones around the courses died in the line of duty). I think it was the big smile on my face that gave me away. He made me turn the traction control control back on. Unfortunately, the Bimmer's electronic anti-skid system works very well. We are working on having the Friday Camaro Superfest event for next year ...an autocross event at the Washenaw Community College parking lot,maybe the same lot we had the judging tents last year.I rode with my son in an autocross event a couple of months ago and I am hooked!

Hhhhmmm...I seem to recall that Teri has also had some "professional instruction" or soemthing like that at a certain go kart track.

Actually I did learn the old fashion way, on the streets. Then I went to school. In 1969 I had a 69 Camaro and later a 66 Corvette. The Camaro was great the Vette was squirrely. Can't remember how many 360's I've done, by accident. And yes this was on the steets in traffic. And no you don't need to say anything.

i remember seeing on TV a couple of years ago, that down in California you could go to a Stunt driving school. the students would learn how to do reverse 180's, 90 degree slides, near misses, sliding into parking spots, and other various cool things. don't remember what the name of the school is, or if it is even still around. after successful completion, you would receive a certificate, so you could apply for movies as stunt drivers.

A great big paved area for dynamic testing of vehicles-couple of football fields big - no trees or poles to hit. From the air, it looks like a black lake. Theres lots of movies of ducks and geese trying to land on the surface of the water, only to discover its hardpavement.
