The dealership at Munday Chevy in Houston has agreed to buy the car back. So I spent ALL DAY looking for an SS online, and have found one in Richardson (which is a suburb of Dallas, which isn't far).
It's a white 1999 SS (I checked the RPO at the Chevy house here in Rusk today), with 57,000 miles. They want $11,995 for it. What's wrong with it?
Let me know soon! I want to check on it, but I need advice first! It's not like I'm just wanting to blow $12,000, but I want to cover my bases first. Check it out at:
Thanks, y'all! Bryan

There is probably nothing wrong with it. The used car market is extremely soft. I went to the Custom Car show this weekend. And nothing at the aution was selling. People were getting bids of $8 or $9,000 on a $16,000 reserve.

I would listen very carefully to the LS1 on COLD start up for the notorious piston slap. what kind of oil used, frequency of changes, records of changes, repairs.
pinion gear seal leak ?
warped rotors ?
slow window motors ?
what else am i missing guys ?

If you know someone who is mechanically inclined and they are familiar with LS1 F-bodies, I would have them look at it. Kelley Blue Book puts the reatail value at $17,225 for an SS in your area with this kind of mileage........you can run your own price estimate at Kelly's Web Site to check it out. With such a large price difference, you really ought to be sure the car wasn't wrecked or has something big wrong with it. Something doesn't smell right to me.
And if you decide to take Ken up on his offer to buy one of his Birds.......you will be getting a great car.

Maybe. Did the oil pump problem extend into the 99 model year?
