Did anyone see it? Opinions? How many of you are of the age to have been early teens/pre-teens when the first one came out? I just wonder if that skews the opinions. I guess I was about 12-13 when the first one aired. Anyway...

I thought it was pretty good taken on it's own. I always thought the first one started out good and then collapsed in on itself after about the 3rd or 4th episode. It just got silly.
This one was pretty gritty in some places, I wouldn't have let the kids watch it. Especially that one scene where they had to leave the little girl on the ship that didn't have faster than light capability when the cylons showed up.
Things I liked.
1) The "anti-tech" on the Galactica. Kind of a neat twist.
2) Edward James Olmos as Adama. Cool.
3) No freaking fluffy robot toys running around.
4) The Baltar character. Kind of less slimy and yet more slimy than the original at the same time.

Things I didn't particularly like.
1) The setup with Boomer being an undercover Cylon.
2) Col Tigh(sp??) being a wimpy drunk.
3) The overblown sex scenes.

Did anybody even watch it?

I watched it with my 16 yr old son. It wasn't bad at all. My son is a Sci Fi NUT and he enjoyed it. I think it was more geared toward teens.

Do not like starbuck a Girl. Like the Tech. But if they are going to follow the original story its going to go the same direction the original did nowhere

Some of the best space flight special effects I've
ever seen. I really liked how they used compressed air "thrusters" to control the
direction of the Vipers...just like NASA does.

Story was good, I agree, don't like Starbuck
as a woman. The mechanical Cylons were wicked
cool looking and of course the blond was easy
on the eyes.

I was a teenager myself when the original aired back in '78-'79 (?). Man !!! That's a long time ago....

I remember our color TV going out the day before, so I had to watch the pilot on a little 13" B&W. Major bummer.

I liked the new version quite a bit. I agree that it had a more gritty, grown-up attitude to it. I kind of liked the twist that humanity created the Cylons as opposed to them being an empire encountered as described in the original series and the books.

I also liked the twist of Baltar being more of a dupe than an accomplice, though he'd likely be treated as a traitor if they'd played it out and had his secret discovered.

I thought the mechanical Cylons were cool too and the human-looking Cylon was ABSOLUTELY pleasing to look at too...

I would have liked to see more actual scenes and battle sequences with the Galactica itself, perhaps even a fleet battle with several Battlestars engaged at once. The hardware is what I've always liked about the show. My favorite episodes in the original were the ones that involved lots of scenes where you saw a Battlestar in action. My 2 favorites were the 2-parter with the Pegasus and the final episode of the series where they took on a Basestar single-handed. The scenes in the new one where they showed the Galactica deploying the guns they used to suppress the Cylon fighters were among my favorite scenes. As a tech-junkie, I thought it was really cool.

If they decided to make it into a full-blown series, I would definitely watch it. I think there's enough new ideas out there to sustain a series. As long as they don't make it silly, it could work.

Definitely liked it. This version is a darker version than the original, which is an improvement. I especially liked Edward James Olmos as Commander Adama - took me a while to place in what other show I had seen him. (Can you?) The human Cylons provided a good reason for the Cylon "victory", however, they just seemed to be duplicates of the Terminators. And having a tall, sexy Cylon in a tight dress was more reminiscent of 7 of 9. I liked the tension between the civilian leadership, i.e., the President (and what major award-winning movie did she star in?) and the military leadership. This show has potential for a series, as long as the SciFi channel doesn't screw it up like they did Farscape.

with Jennifer Lopez. Not what you were thinking

I like the premise of the "museum ship" being the last to survive.. Very gritty and realistic, the nuke stuff was wild to watch (the planet)

I didnt mind Starbuck being a woman since she still had the essense of Starbuck (cigar smoking rebel).. I also liked how they incorporated the OLD "toaster" cylons into the show.

Lets hope it stays good in the series.. remember "Space: Above and Beyond"??
