A wet, rainy good morning to you all ............. hope you have a great "Humpday"
The pic of the day .............. one of the oddities ......... once upon a time the Indy car people came forth with an edict ......... no more "custom designed engines" .......... everything had to be based on a "stock block" ............... well, suddenly the DOHC Ford/Cosworth Indy engine was worth about $0.39/lb ............ so Jim Busby, being an innovator (that's spelled "Nuts") went out and bought a dragster with a 392" Chrysler in it, bought two Ford /Cosworth engines, and joyfully went about replacing the Chrysler with the Indy car engines ...............the pictured result was a sight to behold .............. 16 DOHC cylinders ............ fuel injection ............ all screaming at over 10,000 rpm ............ Indy style 180* headers ............. it was a fearsome looking, fearsome sounding beast .............. with an acceleration curve only slightly slower than a 1947 Desoto 8 passenger 4-door sedan
Only two attempts were ever made at running the car .......... the first was a half pass (Busby said to shake out the bugs in the car, the observers said it was more like shaking out lice) ............... the car, which could run 7.90's at over 195 mph all day long with the Chrysler installed couldn't even reach half track in 7.90 seconds, and Busby aborted the run .................. he came back that afternoon and tried again, but the run had to be aborted before the launch because of a fuel leak
The Indy boys realized quickly that they had made a major mistake, and removed the stock block rule, Busby sold the engines back to an Indy team, and the great Ford/Cosworth dragster slipped into the "stuff that legends are made of" ............... what a dog, this thing honestly couldn't get out of its own way

G'morning!
Drove the SS today .... well sort of. We're having new garage doors installed, and one of our neighbours was good enough to offer his garage to store the SS for the day. So drove the SS for about 200 feet from my garage to his.

The headers on that dragster add a whole new meaning to 'plumber's nightmare'.
