We all knew that in time the plant would come down and sold off. Gm is not in the position of keping vacant property/land.
I have seen this all to often as the wife was in the de-cominishioning(sp) group. A good friend of ours went into the plant when it was closed to continue the process as the plant Was slated years before to close [Frown] .
Hopefully in the near future we will see a new modern plant to start building the next generation F-Body [Smile]

GM should sell the bricks from the plant at the GM Store, to supplement development costs of a 5th gen F-body. [Smile]

Where will be be building the GTO? Cause I know it's now based off the Holden in Australia. Maybe it will share the plant there.

On another note, it maybe be sad, but in my research for my paper, GM does not like to see anything go to waste. It's better than seeing the building get delapidated over the years. Also, within GM's donations, they also donate a lot of unused real estate, although it looks like this portion will be sold. Give it time, we'll see a new, more technologically advance plant in a bit for the new camaro [Smile]

What a shame....

Maybe with a little luck, GM will build the 5th gen F-Body here in the states and give some of the jobs back to the American people...

I probably should wake up now........

GM's most productive and highest quality plant is up north.... Oshawa (sp?) #2. I see nothing wrong with building cars up north..... but you never know where they will put a new plant.... [Wink]

Yeah... the prideis running pretty high around here with the Oshawa plant putting out the highest quality products in the GM lineup, and the St. Catharines engine plant making the Gen III engines (incl. the LS6) and now the new CTS V-6. The LS2 C6 Corvette motor is happening there as well.

Best regardSS,

Elie

I'd just like to see more good paying jobs back here in the USA.

I work for Lucent and they keep sending all the manufacturing jobs to other countries. The location I work at is the last manufacturing plant in North America. We build and test cell phone systems.

And next on the list is the BRAIN part of things, design and high paying jobs are the next victims.
We have been losing low to middle paying jobs so far, when the 55-85K paying jobs start leaving watch the upper middle disappear !!! [Frown] [Frown] [Frown]
