DaddySS had some pictures up with the Macewen bulbs in it. I don't know why we needed brighter bulbs, unless he had some info from somebody. I received my silver gauge face last week and have installed the SS and SSOA decals.I also received my Macewen bulbs. I'll be waiting for it to get warmer before I install it. Steve sent me the bezel, but I haven't received it yet.

I just received my overlays and bezel, but did not order the brighter bulbs. Are they really necessary? If so I'd like to get them before I do the install.

I put in the Xenon bulbs right when I did my overlays, as with the stock bulbs there is a very pronounced uneven illumination. With his Xenon clear bulbs you get bright, even illumination that is as bright as the stock gauges without the overlays:

...the reason many people suggest brighter bulbs with gauge "overlays" is that the bulb would now need to shine through TWO layers of laminant, (your original gauge face, ...and then the overlays). If you're going through the effort of installing overlays, it's been (and is) highly recommended that you consider brighter bulbs. Some may remember I switched to silver faced TH gauges, ...mine was a full gauge face replacement, (no overlay) so I stayed with the stock bulbs. If it were an overlay, ...I would have done the bulbs too. Mike B's gauges look awsome with the brighter bulbs.

That is a great tip. May do that myself. I have Granatelli's 200 mph guages and they are a little on the dark side
