I see a 30th Camaro with 5637 miles on it, on Ebay the guy is wanting 21,000. I checked the Bluebook value saying at most it'd be worth like 14,000. hmmmm What do ya think?

$14,000 that's about right
I see them with higher mileage and convertible
for around $10,000.

$21,000 to get an unmolested 30th Convertible I might give $18,000

It's a T-Top, I'd be willing to go 15, I sent an offer no reply yet...lol see what happens. I guess he is just being greedy. Here's the link 30th Camaro

I've seen a few go for around $17k. 21 seems a little too high. I wa close to getting a 30th Z28 for $11k. But I'm sure there's someone out there that will pay 21 for that.

Well this is what I'm getting from them. They are saying that the NADA has it going for 20,000. I said something about the Blue Book value and here was the reply. It's a Z28/SS LT1

"yes, the kelley blue book is quoting 14000.00, but the kelley blue book has no provision for a Z28/SS camaro. they only show a Z28 with and SS package, which is totally different. the NADA book is the only book that truly lists the Z28/SS as an individual car. you can buy a Z28 with a SS package from any gm dealer, this car isn't modified by SLP in toms river, new jersey. our car is 1 of the 1000 Z28/SS modified by SLP in toms river"

I dont think his price is too far off considering the milage. I will take all the 30th SS's you can find me with 5000 miles for 10-14 grand each. Coupe, Convertible or T top.

Posted by SS_CarGuy (Member # 2065) on :

Considering the mileage, his price is fair. Keep in mind though if you are going to drive the car and add a lot of mileage, the value will go down very quickly. If you are looking for a "driver", I would try to find another car with higher mileage.

If you want a good example of what mileage means to the value of a car, take a look at all the 96 Corvettes on THIS WEB SITE. You will see cars with less than 1000 miles and also higher mileage ones too. That is a good example of what mileage means to a car.

No it would not be a daily driver. It'll site beside my 35th with 2300 miles.
Thanks for the site.

It's a buyers market right now. I think the guy has some good resasons for his price, but it's too high.

Low milage is good and the car is somewhat rare. However, my guess is that this car will continue to depreciate for a few more years. I could be wrong about that since I'm not a collector.

I would not pay him more than $16K for this car. I don't think he will find many people who will step up with that kind of cash for this car.

Best of luck on your deal if you go for it!

Ryan

Here's another one I found for sale........ LINK
No price or mileage is given but it sure looks clean. You might want to contact this person for a comparison on pricing.

Oops.....just noticed it is sold......I would contact them anyways to see what it sold for...who knows they may be able to find another one too.

I agree with you, the guy said he was asking 25000 for it. Well I'll give him a month to stew. It is a nice looking low mileage car. Well I guess it's a waiting game now.

Thanks everyone for your replys

You see the 1600 mile 6 speed ragtop on ebay right now? Last i checked it was a tick over 18 grand. Reserve wasn't met, but it sure looks like a nice one. I'd still like to see a 30th Anniversary car with 5000 miles or less sell for 10-14 grand. I don't think it has ever happened.

I noticed a couple of things.... first he's calling it a Z28/SS, which was the 96' and it's a 97' but he can call it what ever he wants i guess.
His production numbers seem off, there were only 3038 SS's made in 97' around 950 were the Anni's...100 of which were the LT4's...
The 96/97 SS is getting harder to find, and there are only a little over 5000 of these made over this two year period. So i can see where he gets his "buy it now" price. If you are happy with the car, it really won't matter what you pay for it, it's a personal choice. Best of luck.

you and me both, especially an M6.
Blue book on a non 30th 97 with those specs
is under 12. That seems crazy low.
I'd trade straight up, my blue book is 15
I love those 30th's

Agreed. I have seen numerous 30th SS's for sale over the past 6 months and have never seen one with super low miles (5000 or less) sell for under 20 grand. And I honestly mean it, show me one for sale with this kind of milage and a 6 speed for 14 grand and i will buy another one. Its not gonna happen.

Personally, I do not think his price is out of line.
I believe and hope that these will continue to gradually increase in value. Especially the low mileage ones. [Big Grin]

Any collector will go for a low mileage car before a high mileage car.Someone will probably buy this one. [Smile]

Ok folks! Here is what I paid for my car this year and the options. For the record I do not believe there is no true value for this car as it is an Anniversary SS. Even up here in Canada the books do not list special editions or the SS models let alone both combined. Now throw in the fact that there was another $2900.00 in optional content from SLP over and above the $4000.00 extra for the SS upgrade. These are US$..

30th anniv. pkg........349.00
Hurst shifter..........349.00
Performance Exhaust....499.00
Level II Bilstein......999.00 [Eek!]
Torsen differential.....99.00
Engine oil cooler......299.00
Car cover..............159.00
SS floor mats...........99.00
Synthetic oils..........79.00

This car brand new, with every option, would have cost over $40,000 CNDN funds plus another 15% in taxes! [Eek!]
My SS has every available SLP option with the leather seats and I got it for $22,000.00 Cndn, roughly $15,400 USD. It has about 20,000 miles. It does need new stripes on the hood and some minor cosmetic work to make it pristine again. I would think $18,000 USD for a tip top 30th SS would be fair with 20 being top dollar. I'm not concerned that mine is not gem mint but its darn close and this car gets serious attention out on the road. The best bang for the buck in show, go, and looks. Good luck to you man! Just send me a PM is you ever want to get in touch anytime! [Cool]

I remember looking at that car on e-bay. The only thing that really bothered me was he really wasn't showing the body on the car. The one picture was far away.If you look at the pic of the rear of the car - it's filthy?? Doen't look taken care of. Looks like it has been just sitting outside somewhere. The seller is pnaauto. It may be sitting in a salvage yard or repo lot.

Well he has more pics, he emailed them to me. That car looks perfect in the pics. I guess I'll have to get it looked at by the naked eye for better details.

My son in Texas has a 97 SS 30th coupe w/M6 and only 3k miles on it. Only 66 SS coupes w/LT1 were produced in 97.

That production number is actually incorrect. I also have a 1997 SS coupe with a 6 speed, and back when the SLP message board was still up and running, I was asking about the reported "66 made" story, and Ed Hamburger himself posted all of the production number breakdowns for the 30th Anny cars (Sure wish i woulda printed it out now that all that info is lost forever!) but he stated that all of the published production numbers do NOT include the 102 LT4 cars, meaning there are actually 164 non-LT4 SS coupes with the M6, not 66. Still the rarest combination you can have, aside fron the LT4, just not as rare as was once thought.

So Mr. Traveller...did you get anywhere on this car at all? Last report was you were going to let the seller stew on it for a month. Any news dude?

Posted by WD,30th SS#727 (Member # 107) on :

My 30th has just over 15K on it, and it would not be going anywhere for less than $20K. Even if I had to sell it. It's better than new IMO, and it's unique and will eventually hold it's value quite well, I believe. It's a very personal thing, it's more than just a car to me. [Smile]

Camaro White Book shows 66 LT1 coupes and 100 LT4 coupes, for a total of 166 coupes. So that would make the LT1 coupes more rare the the LT4.
