it does have a Chevy engine [Big Grin]

I shot some pictures of my 1948 English Ford 1/4 ton Thames panel for another board and thought I'd post a couple here also.

Although the car looks big in the pictures, it's really rather dinky ..... the wheelbase is 90" and the total length from nose to the end of the wheelie bars is 143" .......... not quite 12 feet ....... this is Don Maynard's old A/G drag car which he raced in the late '60's and early '70's ....... we're slowly trying to turn it into a street rod ............ the car is powered by a mostly stock 300 horsepower, 327 cu.in. Chevrolet engine taken out of a '66 Nova ....... the Holley 660 has been replaced by an Edelbrock 600 carb sitting on an Edelbrock aluminum intake ........ the dual point distributor was replaced with a standard GM HEI ...... and Hedman "body hugger" headers are used because of some severe space limitations...... it has a Turbohydro 350 transmission and a severely narrowed 10" Olds rear end with 3.42 gears replacing the 5.13's that it raced with ...... the radiator is a custom built unit made by mounting the tanks on the ends of a four row taken from a full sized Ford pickup ...... and then mounting the radiator on its end .......... the wheels are the original Superiors that the car raced on, and even though they're a little rough, I wouldn't think of replacing them as this type of wheel is no longer manufactured ........ the front tires are 145R15 Michelins and the rears are S375x60x15 Pro Tracs ........... the wheelie bars have been shortened 30 inches, and the drag chute and ignition kill switch have been deactivated ......... the license plate is vacuum operated .... with the engine running it drops down between the wheelie bars, and it retracts when the engine is off (drives the cops crazy) ........... as it sits, it has made one run down a dragstrip ....... at Phoenix in 1998 ........ 11.893 at 123.11 mph ........ and then it was requested that the car not be brought back until a roll cage was installed (I had just finished removing the roll cage so more than one person could get inside) ......

It is far from complete .......... but then again, with something like this ..... is it ever complete ??????

That is one neat vehicle. I bet at over 120 on the drag strip, that short wheelbase is a handfull. [Cool]
