I bought a couple vehicles from Munday Chebby here in Houston to export to a customer in West Africa. Munday also sponsors my nephew in racing, www.wildwestracing.com, so we push as many sales as we can. I took my 9 yr old to look at an SSR, as he like the new commercial.

Anyway, they offered to give me their demo for a day. My son's jaw nearly hit the floor. If he doesn't already have "it" in his blood after the SSR, I'm sure he will!

Anyone else drive one ? Comments ?

Wife promised me she would get one then GM transfered the company driver [Mad] . But from what I have heard there are no complaints about it.

I believe Mr Settlemire has been driving one lately as his "company car". Maybe he'll see this thread.

I've been driving a "captive fleet preproduction" unit since early fall. I've put just about 6K miles on it. It had nearly 2K miles when it was assigned to me.

Plusses: Never have had so many positive comments on a vehicle.....ever......draws a crowd no matter where you go. Roof is a sight to behold as it operates...one touch, no 'releases' ...engine sounds good. (remember, there is a federal "noise driveby" standard we have to meet.....) so yes, I wish it were louder, but hey..... Paint is great, fit and finish for a preproduction not bad. Interior finish is nicely done..only complaint is trying to get hands down to adjust the seat once the door is closed....cargo area is nicely finished and weathertight.....

Minuses: One problem you run into when you take a "concept" vehicle and put it into production are small things such as "Cup holders" -- cupholders weren't in concept vehicle and there isn't a lot of real estate available for 'em...and I use 'em a lot to store "stuff"...Bose sound system great....can crank it the whole way up and no distortion.....this one has some rattles, but then I found out it was a very early unit and was put thru its paces at Milford prior to me getting it. Interesting feature that I think will be removed: Hit the unlock button on the key fob and the windows go down.....ASC suggested this, and I still don't get it...but I know I've mistakenly put the windows down in the rain without knowing it. I'm assured this feature was removed. Ride is interesting....not real good on rough roads...fine on smooth roads. I feel like I'm sitting in a bathtub after driving a camaro (high sides)

Overall, I think we'll sell everyone we build for the first couple of years....not my cup of tea, but as I said, I've never seen so many thumbs ups......on an interstate, I'll pass someone, and they'll speed up to just look at it, then slow back down.....somewhat tiring after a while, but hey, glad people like it.

You forgot to mention the optional two legged airbag located in the back of the SSR. A plus or minus? [Big Grin]

It's a cool vehicle, and kudo's to GM for building it (even though I still think the money would have been better spent on the 5th gen [Big Grin] ) however, conversations I've had with enthusiasts and non, they think it's neat until you tell 'em they can have a new 'vette for only a couple o' thou' more .....then it's no contest ...I'd get the 'vette. Of course most are people like me that can't afford either. [Frown]
