The guy that got it was not going to be out bid......you could tell that was going to be his car no matter how much he had to pay. Boy was it a nice looking Camaro. It had the cross-ram manifold and was probably a 100 point car. Here is the BJ description from their web site:

1969 CHEVROLET CAMARO Z28 COUPE
LOT #439 - NO RESERVE
2004 BJCCA CCA

No photos
available.
OPTIONS
COLOR - YELLOW
TRANS - 4-SPEED
CYLINDERS - 8
ENGINE SIZE - 302
HORSEPOWER - 290

This is unquestionably one of the most sought after Camaros ever produced. Options include the potent 302 CID DZ engine with the rare Cross Ram package, 4-speed, 12 bolt posi-traction with 4-wheel disc brakes (only 206 Camaros were built with the "JL8" option), tilt column, factory 8000 RPM tach, center console with gauges, power steering, front and rear spoilers, rally wheels and finished in the original color "Daytona Yellow" with Black standard interior. This is a 3-owner car purchased new in Simi Valley, California. No expense spared on this incredible body-off restoration.

I much prefer this car to the COPO big blocks that didn't handle[or brake] nearly as well !!! [Wink] [Wink]

Thought it was $112,000.00

You may be right on the price but I don't know for sure.I ahd remembered 102K. I just searched B-J's web site and can't find a record of that sale. In the "cars for sale" it's called lot #439, but in the results, lot 439 is another car altogether. I also searched by vehicle and I don't see it there either.....STRANGE!

What a difference a year makes. Last year, at the B-J Auction, bids for COPO Camaros were $275K+. This year the bidding for COPO's is around $80K (and lower).

The same guy that paid $112m for the Z,also paid $100m for the 54 Vette.

Maybe I'll have to sell my 69 SS396.
