remember when I said I was building a new computer? Well, got most of it together now, my brother and I are fooling around with the bios to try and see how far we can overclock it to see how it runs.
Interesting news: The multiplier is unlocked, and can be altered to change processor speed without altering FSB speed! This was a bit of a surprise, as every past overclock my brother has done has involved manipulating the FSB.
Incidently, its an Asus board with an Athlon XP 3000 processor. USB 2.0, dual DDR support, Sony DRU-530A dvd burner, and a front 5.25 mount 4port USB 2.0 hub on the way.
Any of you guys care to share success stories on overclocking AMD late-model processors to configurations that work, but are stable? Ideas are welcome, we are still trying to find out what works best.
Currently, we are running at 2.34 Ghz or so, and are trying to find a core voltage that helps stability with the faster speed.
Also, still trying to figure out how to make windows recognize a 200 GB HD when the bios already recognizes it at that size. Windows sees it as a 130.

I'm running a 160HD on XP and now problem. Howdo you have it partioned, or do you. What kind of HD and how was it set up?

western digital 200 GB 7200 RPM, was installed on a computer built from scratch. Bios recognized it as a 200 GB, but when windows XP professional was installed, the setup program recognized it as a 130. It was partitioned with a single NTFS "quick" format, and then windows was installed.
