Ive got a rock chip on my headlight cover, and a few on the front bumper. Ive never done paint touchups before, would like some tips on how fix them. i seem to recall there is a product that will erode touchup paint, as it is softer than factory paint. Ergo, you can layer touchup paint on too thick, and then buff it off until the thickness of the touchup and regular paint are the same. Anyone know/remember what this stuff is called? Thanks!

It's called Lanka and it works pretty well. Information and tips on repair are on this webpage.

Thanks, dude, I take it you have used it? The spot on my headlight cover has some bubbling around the open spot, I think some water has been driven in there under the paint, so itsgoing to end up being a pretty big section that gets painted.

FC........I think Meguairs or Mothers makes a similar product that you can probably pick up at a Pep Boys or Autozone type store too. I remember seeing someone post something on this awhile back.

I've used a similar process as described in the link, above. Instead of using a product specificly made to polish down the paint 'blob', I use a clearcoat safe rubbing compound like Turtle Wax, Mequiers or 3M. Whatever product you use, make sure it's clearcoat safe, or it will damage the paint surrounding the repair.
