Anybody know the SLP part# for the 345hp TB rubber boot?
I just read another thread with regard to the rubber boot from the Airbox to the throttle body, (for the Blackwing optioned 345hp (2002)package).
...and thought it might be a good idea to order one (as backup).
I know I can call SLP, but thought to check here 1st...

Thanks,
Kevin

It's different than the GM one? When I installed the new airbox on mine it used stock pieces....

On the OEM SLP lid cars, there are 2 boots.

The first boot connects the lid itself to the MAF (and I beleive in the boot that RagSS is referring to, as this boot is known to be weak and tear easily).

The second boot connects the MAF to the throttle body, and this boot was the original GM boot unless otherwise changed by the owner.

That boot isn't very flexible. When I lift the lid,the part that moves is the ribbed one.

Right, that is the problem. That boot is fairly rigid and after some time it will split right across the neck. I know first hand, it happened to me around 15,000 miles and was told by SLP that this was a common failure.

Thanks Mike, ...yes that's the boot I'm looking for. It has NO ribs, and seems to be a 'weak' spot and tears. It's unique to the OE SLP 345hp (blackwing airbox)cars.
Almost $55 after shipping [Eek!]

Only the early production models like Bonte's had the issue of the piece tearing.

SLP went with a thicker, more robust design shortly after they saw the problem popping up.

What could be a problem is folks who swapped out MAF ends, and/or use the nonstock "baker hose"

If you stiffen up the entire air intake path, then the engine torque gets passed directly to the lid. Those connecting hoses are flexible for a reason. To prevent that from happening.

If you get into the accelerator the engine rocks. The intake was designed to flex. If its too stiff, then there's no flex, and something that wasnt designed to flex breaks.

I have seen aftermarket lids have the tabs at the back break off.

SLP OE parts are now available through resellers. You can usually get a better price through them.

Chris, ...my car is an August '01 build ('02 model), it seems to me that's an early production. Any way to tell 'old' style from the 'revised' version??

..BLKRAGSS, ...the price at the link was $45/95, ...same as SLP, ...or did I miss something???
