My Escalade that I have right now has them and I have fallen in love with these lights.... I want to put them on the SS but was currious if anyone else out there has.... also if you can recommend a kit or specific brand... thanks!

Check out the SilverStar bulbs. They're not true HID's but they put out a brighter light then the stock bulbs, for a lot less $ then HID's. Posted by MM (Member # 1247) on :

I have them but now on the SS... my escalade has HID's and I want them now for the SS. After you have driven a car with HID's everything else seems REALLY weak.....

No offense, but I hope the NHTSA ultimately bans HID lights. They may be nice to drive behind but they certainly do not make night driving easier on anybody else on the road.

I doubt it since they are "safer"... my favorite thing to do is harass people who drive imports at stop lights... I have figured out how to stragically place the lights on the 'sclade so that they shine in the side mirror and blind the driver in front of me... its quite fun to do.... don't worry I only harass import divers... Well using aircraft landing lights on your car would be "safer" for the driver of that car, but you have to admit that it would be annoying or dangerous for other drivers.
The problem with HIDs that NHTSA is investigating is the amount of irritation that they cause to other drivers. By having such a high color temperature and intense focus pattern, they push the limits (especially when installed in SUVs) of what other driver's eyes can handle and may in fact create a safety hazard by blinding other drivers.

Agreed. I think ultimately they'll be banned from the road.

I would think properly aimed headlights would be the best way to go. I do love my bi-xenon lights on my Saab but I know they are obnoxious to other drivers.
