Before you change the Monsoon Speakers DO your research. Seem to remember posts that people have had trouble with changing them out.

It looks like they might not have the problems mentioned above since they are 2 ohm speakers like the stock speakers. Most of the aftermarket speakers are 4 ohm and don't work all that well with the Monsoon amp. It would be interesting to see how these speakers perform.
Typically though, like any other mod, once you start you can't stop and you will soon be wanting to add a sub, replace the amp, etc. LOL Posted by SVT THIS (Member # 1352) on :
Out of all the threads, and posts and messageboards I read on speakers in the Camaros, it is pretty much useless to upgrade one thing at a time. You you truly are looking for an upgrade, save your money until you can get a new head unit AND amp AND speakers at the same time. It's the only real way to go unfortunately with the Camaros becasue of the 2 ohm speakers. Now, I"m not an audiophile on cars (but I am on computer speaker systems and audio). But getting everythign new at once is your best best. If you buy one thing, get the head unit first, then amp, etc. Just my 2 cents Posted by killabee (Member # 860) on :
Only the front door speakers are 2 ohm and you can bridge them to get them to work pretty well. The others are 4's and can easily be upgraded epecially the back seat 6 3/4" to get much better bass and not blow them out. The problem is you'll be cranking it more and eventually wear out the others like I did. I'm happy and I have stock head and amp. Thinking about replacing the head but don't really like the fittment cause of the tall GM head unit.
Gutting the whole thing is the best way but like I said you can get a good gain from replacing the backs.

Dude, I went throught this. I thought I could get away with just swapping the speakers. I worked in sound production so I had a real good idea for it all. Car sounded bad, eq was way off. Then I gutted every thing but the radio and rewired and changed the amps. The monsoon amp colors the sound to match the poor quality monsuck speakers. Add that to the 2 ohm issue and you will be unhappy unless you change the amps out too.
