Anybody have experience with these or know someone who has? Since the 1 set of SZ50 EPs available in the area seems to have gone thru the stratosphere on price (CDN$350/ea installed and balanced + 15% tax!), my research has turned up the Kumho MX - a tire that seems to also work well as a street/track tire. The MX is a Y-rated tire and runs about CDN$285 installed and balanced (as opposed to the Ecsta 712 (CDN$218 which looks to be more of a tire for the street.)

Best regardSS,

Elie

You may want to go over to the corvetteforum and poke around. I seem to recall that there were a lot of postings about the Ecsta's at one time.

I have the Kumo Ecsta Supra 712's on my car. I agree with Tire Rack's assesment. They don't do any thing particularly well nor do they have any really bad habits.
Only problem is they're waring out faster than they should compared to, "better", high performance tire I have had.

I have the Kuhmo Ecsta MX on my Ragtop. Nice tire for the price.

Have you autoX'ed the tire or had the car on the track? What about do you think about its wet weather performance?
Thanks for everybody else's replies as well!

Wet weather traction is pretty good, considering it is a performance tire. Although I try not to drive the car in the rain, there have been many times coming home from car shows, it rains, and I haven't had any problems.

Handling: I have not had the car out for any true Autocrossing, but playing around town and on the on and off ramps of some expressways I have been pretty impressed. The combination of my suspention, tire and wheel size has given the Convertible an amazing stable feel driving around.
