This is why I didn't get to even check in on the boards last weekend.

I am super happy with it. And so ready to start painting all of the other rooms in the house.

Thanks Dan for hosting the pics for me.

This is the corner behind my desk. I'm going to paint daisies on the 2 black canvases for artwork.

 -

Same corner before the canvases got hung. Shows a little more detail. My stamps and ink pads are in two old cassette holders we painted and stained.

 -

this is the corner across from the door. I built the cornice boxes a long time ago and recovered them for this room. Mel & our real estate agent were a little peeved when I instisted they not be sold with the house but I am so glad I kept them. They are the perfect fit in this corner.

 -

This is the corner in front of my desk. I'll recover the bulletin board and hang it between the tv & door, which is to the left in this pic.

 -

The desk was all custom made for me and is so cool. This is where I'm usually at in the house. [Smile]

Very nice and organized. What are the black square shapes on the walls?

I edited it to add some explainations of what is what.

We did all of this over about 2 - 2 1/2 days. I'm not normally into orange but saw a piece of paper that I just loved. It was the inspiration for my room. Eventually I'll do a wall hanging with the paper to put up in here as well.

WOWWWWW!!! That's GORGEOUS!!! I LOVE the wall color....I've done a LR/DR and a kitchen in two different houses in an apricot/peachy color....so that's right up my alley!! [Smile]

Looks GREAT!! [Cool]

We did 3 differnet colors on it. With each layer we were like "that's cool. I like it how it is, do we have to mess it up?" Mel was especially reluctant to do the copper glaze on top of his awesome color wash job but it made such a huge difference.

He's trying to figure out how to use it in his band room. [Big Grin]

Yes, I think its the top coat that gives it that nice sheen look. Defintely awesome! And Everyone is alwys reluctant to go with bold colors, but they always turn out so well, definitely yours!

That looks GREAT! We're thinking of doing something similar in our bedroom. How hard was it to do the walls like that?

Posted by Krista (Member # 1904) on :

Not hard at all.

Base coat painted like normal. 2nd coat very thinly dry brushed on and thenwiped with cheesecloth or spread more by the brush. Same thing for the glaze on top.

We hadn't done any kind of paint technique before so we made sure to start in an inconspicuous spot. By the time we got to the open parts we had the technique down.

Just wondering....why the hot water bottle and hammer on the board over the desk ??

Like the burnt orange color. [Cool]

Are you for hire?

Sure, but I ain't cheap!! [Big Grin] And Mel can eat alot.

Just wondering....why the hot water bottle and hammer on the board over the desk ??

I've been waiting for some one to ask what all the crap is I've got everywhere. [Smile]

It's not a hot water bottle, but now that you mention it it looks alot like one hanging that way.

It's a bead tray for when I'm working with small items, beads or powders. I pour them onto my project over the tray and dump off the excess. The I can use the pour hole to put the powder or whatever back into it's original container.

Hammer is for setting eyelets. Or throwing at someone if they don't shut up when I'm working!!

I'm a scrapbooker and these are all of the toys and products I create stuff with. This is my girly side [Embarrassed] . You can see some of my work at
http://www.simplysentiments.com/staff/krista_koenig.shtml
That's my staff page for the magazine I'm a part of (another of the reasons I haven't done much with my car or f-body baords the last few months) Just click on the different links at the bottom. The Gallery link has the most stuff in it.

One thing that is really cool (but way behind) is that I've been able to combine both of my passions and do a show book for my car. I set it out on a stand when we go. I have several pages I need to hurry up and do and get put in for the next time we're able to get together with the AZFBA.

Teri,

Totally awesome tags!! [Smile] Nice to know I'm not the only SBer that's into Camaro's. I know there is another female from AZ on 2P's with the username Kimero. What's your 2P's name?
I just use kristak since Krista was already taken. It also explains the totally cool Camaro cigar box purse you did. I'd still love to know how you did it. That would be to cool to take to shows.

Krista,
I'm just Teri9672 on all the boards. I'm addicted to SBing.
The cigar purse was done with color copies of some camaro fabric I have and then just modpodged onto the box. Very easy

thanks Millie [Big Grin]

where'd you find the fabric and cigar box purse? I'd love to give them a try. I saw some cigar box purses (already decorated) at a craft store recently but wasn't going to pay the silly amount they wanted for it. And I've never seen the fabric. Did you scan the fabric by chance? If so, could I beg and plead and ask you to email it to me. Then I can keep looking for one of the cigar boxes. I'll have to look for Vette stuff too to make one for my mom.

So mnay ideas but just not enough time to get even 1/4th done!

Teri,

Would you post the picture of your purse here?

It's part of the Full Throttle line from Concord Fabrics. They were for sale at Joanne Fabric stores, but have since been discontinued. You might be able to find some still floating around out there.

My original post on these fabrics was at THIS LINK, but the pics are no longer there.

Edit: I found the pics of the fabric, but I don't know which ordering #'s match each one.
Here they are:

You rock Teri!!! I saved the pics and hopefully can print them out to use if/when I find one of those cigar boxes. Now to just get done with the other projects that are actually a higher priority so I can do this one. [Smile]

that's the fabric. i actually still have about 2 yards of it at home. I went by a local smoke shop and just asked the owner to save me empty boxes. i paid a couple dollar each for them. Scrapbook papers work well too.......... I noticed a new line of papers for Hot wheels the other day. they would make a nice purse too.

I've also made a couple other ones.
I used an octagon shaped box i bought at the craft store for one of them. Just buy the hinges at the hardware store. I used those wire necklaces for the handles (just slip beads on)

I might be able to scan the fabric....I have a legal size (8.5" x 11") flatbed scanner. If I can figure out how to use it, I'll see what I can do to get you some bigger examples. If nothing else, I'd be willing to trade you some swatches of fabric in exchange for one of whatever you make with it. [Smile]

Those are so cool. I am definately going to have to find the time to make me one. I didn't even think about going to a smoke shop (a duh!!). There's one right where I always get gas so I'll stop in next time and ask them. Would just wire work for the handles? If you put beads on it it shouldn't matter if it was for a necklace or not. I know there are also purse handles you can buy at the fabric or craft store so I'll have to look for them the next time I go in.

Do you have insturctions or any tips for making these? I def want one for me and I'll do one for my mom for her B-day. Might even be a neat class to try and teach.

Hwtlss,

I was able to match up 2 of the pics you posted. I'd like to get 4 of them matched up to print out larger. But I'd be very open to a trade. Just have no idea how long it would take me to get this project done.

I was also crackin' up when I saw the fabric the travel purse was sitting on! [Smile] I have that same stuff. Used to be in my office at the old house. Thought of using it in the new living room but Mel wasn't liking even a few flowers. Think we'll make the new living room old movies, with posters and as much old time theater stuff as I can find.

I'm not in any hurry...I know how long it takes for projects. Would a half-yard of each material be enough? I have the blue Camaros, red Camaros and one of the "logos only" fabric (I think it's the greenish one).

've seen the nice handles at the craft stores too. I like those necklaces for handles because it stays stiff and was really cheap.

I just strated off modpodging the paper to the box. after it was all covered I put extra coats of modgepodge on to build up a few thick coats. I used clear spary from a can to seal once i was done. The cigar box will already have the lid hinged so you don't have to worry about hinges. Just buy you a small latch and put it on. You can get good ideas by looking at the ones already done at different places. I used felt to line the insides............. done
very easy, just time consuming [Big Grin]

I'm not sure. Sounds as if Teri copied them onto paper and used it. I bet fabric would work also. Just a matter of more cutting. Let me play around with the pics you posted earlier and see if I can get them to print ok. If not I'll hit you up for the fabric. And if I get a chance to make them I'll do an extra for you. [Smile]
