Took the car this morning to get the headers put on. Last I saw the car it was about 18" off the ground on all 4's. The car had to cool off before Tim could do anything to it. It was raining so no sense in standing around for 2 hours. Last I heard from him was 3pm and all the stock stuff was off and he was working on the passenger side.
The car won't be done until tomorrow...

Its always best to let installer take his/her time. This way you know its done right and you will truly be able to enjoy.
Hang in there Michelle.

Yep........kind of like getting a tattoo. You hope it will look OK when they start.......but you don't really know until it's done.
Wait..........both of you already know that! Posted by Doug 97SS #1499 (Member # 100) on :

Well I got the car home about an hour ago!! WOO HOOOOOOOO...sounds really great and boy does it go now!! I can definetly feel a HP difference.
For some reason the y-pipe wouldnt line up with the cats. It somehow was bent inwards so it took longer then expected but they finally got it to fit.
Also Tim was constantly getting sand in his eyes while working on the car...dont know where it all came from...the trip to the Outer Banks?
Sounds like someone is quite pleased! Posted by CamaroSCG (Member # 1591) on :

We will have a video up shortly of Tim and Ryan that helped with the install when they test drove the car
So, I guess the patience paid off then? Sheesh. talk about worry wart. And the sand......I needed a small trowel to get it all out of my eyes. J/K! Hope you are pleased with the work, next time try not to doubt the ones you should be trusting. Enjoy them. And if there are any problems let me know.
As far as the install, For any LS1 owners planning long tube headers, let me suggest FLPs (they slide right in with little to know problems and fit comfortably). The SLP headers are nice, but they are the most oddly designed headers I think I have ever seen, and they rest against alot of wires that crisscross around them. The install kit has some heat protection in it, however if you can get more from jegs or somewhere do it. The y-pipe is "jacked".. My suggestion is to start at the collector of the headers and work your way back (unlatch the cat-back from its hangers) and fit the rest before rehanging/fitting the rear section. Also find plug wires that have short boots on the plug ends, otherwise they will touch the pipes. Just FYI. Tim
