For those that have not been following my thread entitled "MY DRIVESHAFT SNAPS!" you may want to read it first for some more detailed background info.
The GM rep went out to the dealership to inspect the vehicle today and find out what happened. He found that the reason that the pinion sheared in half is because the dealership that put the new Auburn and housing on the car 1 week ago did not do the proper modifications on the housing to allow the oil to flow properly(they used a normal GM housing).
To make a long story short, I have had SLP in contact with the GM rep to explain what needs to be done to fix this for the 7th time properly. The GM rep seems to think he knows more than SLP and doesn't agree with what SLP is telling him needs to be done. He is planning on reporting everything to GM and states that GM will not use SLP after this. Meanwhile, SLP thinks that the GM rep is a moron who has no clue what he is doing.
I am the victim here who is without his car while they sort out this mess. In the end, the GM rep is going to ignore everything that SLP has told him and I am gonna end up in another possibly deadly situation.
What am I supposed to do?
Oh, also, the GM rep is stating that because I will not wrap my GMMG exhaust that it is putting out too much heat and he won't warranty the differential past this event.
By the way, I have a 2002 35th LE Vert with 33,000 miles.

There must be more than one Chevy/GM service shop in your area. Try a different one.

Been there done that; I have been to 4 thus far and every single one of them has screwed it up. That is why I am on my 7th attempt at getting this fixed. Each time it is because of mechanic incompetence as opposed to part defect.
I am already to the local GM rep level but he is the one that doesn't agree with SLP on what needs to be done.

Various sugestions in random order: 1) Get to the rep's boss 2) Get the boss of this rep's boss 3) call GM and go up the ladder 4) call an attorney 5) call SLP and see if they will provide the engineering drawings and manufacturing instructions and show them to the GM rep(however if this guy is truly an idiot, it will not make a difference). 6) see how AZ's lemon laws work 7) hope that there is someone from GM marketing watching this board..and can offer suggestions that won't get him in trouble..... 8) ask on the board for someone to come up with documentation from a reputable dealership or tuner (or both) regarding this issue. This may serve you if you go with the GM rep or the legal approach. 9) See if a local TV station has one of those 'help the consumer' advocates.(I love it when the accused party suddenly decides to fix things at the last moment). 10.) Lastly- just have it fixed outside of the dealership and GM. Things could be worse, the SS could have been totaled by an uninsured driver.....

Here are the install docs from SLP Performance Parts. They dont include the template for the required cutting, but I would imagine SLP in NJ could fax them one.

Get on the phone with Settlemire or someone at SLP and have one of their guys go to the dealership in person. Or hve the car sent to NJ to SLP.

And if you decide to get a Zexel Torsion rear differential, I would ask for the money back on the Auburn option.

Not a practical solution at this point. The Auburn is SLP content and why should they refund money because of the dealership's ineptness?
In thinking this over, I dont believe the dealership not modifying the housing should have caused such a catastrophic failure. I ran this thought past someone who has some "hands on experience" with the SLP Auburns, and he tended to agree.
If the zone rep does his homework, he will find out he is wrong. If he BSs you and he turns into a dead end, then I'd start researching your local lemon laws and start looking for a lawyer. It might come down to that.

I have to agree with ChrisL on this one. That pinion failed for other reasons one of which is not heat related to your exhaust. Sorry to hear you are having all these problems. You need to get an attorney as it stands now.

Thank you all for your response and e-mails; it is much appreciated. Scott is now aware of the situation so hopefully he will be able to help out. I don't want to have things go as far as getting an attorney involved but unless something changes it seems as if that may be a reality. My biggest fear, is that they will not fix it properly again and this time we might not be as lucky and things could be disasterous. As it stands my wife is pregnant and is afraid to ride in the car until she feels comfortable that it is fixed properly and I am starting to get scared myself.
