Today... I mean this month is not my month. Some girl pulled out in front of me at a light so I slowed down and a Dodge Ram smashed in to the back of me. He totally destroyed the back end of my truck! The girl was more interested in going to meet her friends than the accident. When the officer told her she would have to wait there a few more minutes, she replyed, "I have to meet some friends for lunch, can we hurry this along?" [Mad] She looked all of 20, and didn't seem to understand the seriousness of this. [Mad] Now I will have to be without a car. The insurance company is playing 20 questions with me. To top it all off, the repair shop I want to use is booked through the middle of April... This is not my month...

That sucks, but the insurance co. should pay for the rental. Doesn't sound like you were at fault, so if everyone involved was insured...you should get reimbursed. A lawyer can always help your cause. On a better note, at least you have that nice looking convertible to enjoy once the spring weather rolls in. [Wink]

Good to hear that you are ok Matt. Glad the 35th was not in the accident. How bad is the truck? Do you want to bring it over? [Frown]

No, it is no longer drivable. I noticed the exhaust is pushed down, and the front tire is going flat. It is pretty bad, I have no rear glass, and the liftgate is totally smashed. I don't want to be an alarmest, but I am getting a headache...

You definitely should go to a Dr. and get checked out (sorry, I hadn't realized you hadn't done that).

You'll be sore for a few days, for sure.

Sorry to hear that man. I have been rear ended in that same situation 3 times in my life. At least you'll be OK and it was not your SS.

Go get checked out.Tomorrow you may have neck or back ache.
Maybe you will get your new truck sooner than you thought. Give me a call at home later.

Ok, I will try to go get pictures, I didn't even think to do that. I am okay now, my headache is gone. I am not a big fan of doctors, so I will see how it is tomorrow. It probably was just a stress and smoking headache...

Man that sucks. I am quite surprised your insurance company is playing 20 questions with you. It is 100% the responsibility of the vehicle behind you to not hit you. You may not get a rental as it may be a required rider on your policy for loss of use. However, if fault is assessed to the other driver may be you can.

You should also get checked at at hospital...but you already know that.

BTW, I recognized the car sitting beside yours in the picture in your signature. That is either a '96 or '97 SS as I recall. Owned by one D. Stokes.

Ding... Ding... Ding... Right you are! Yeah, I am sure I am okay. I didn't hit anything in the car, I had my seatbelt on. I will wait to see tomorrow, I feel much better now, after I had something to eat and a Pepsi.

P.S. Sorry about my signature appearing multiple times, I keep forgetting to uncheck that box...

Sorry to hear about the accident. Seems there are alot of people out there that only care about getting to places to meet with friends and family instead of paying attention, following the rules of the road, and being courteous. Seems like that has all gone down the drain now and noone seems to care anymore. [Frown] What a drag and hope everything works out for you.

And on a positive note, you walked away to tell a story. THAT is the most important thing.

Yes, that is a VERY important thing... It was really hard to watch them tow my car away this afternoon. I really love that truck! To date it is the best car I have ever owned. Not that my Camaro isn't good, it hasn't been out enough to establish the spotless record that my Explorer has. I have almost 100,000 miles on that car, and everything works on it. I mean everything! It is just like when I drove it out of the dealership. Well, not any more... [Frown] Maybe it is time to change? I will find out tomorrow for sure whether it is totalled...

With her attitude of "can we hurry this along" I would've slapped her with as many citations as I had blanks. It MIGHT be one thing if she had just bumped you and bent some things up, but DANG!

As others have said, first of all, you're OK. Secondly, ...it wasn't your fault. When the insurance companies look at this, the guy in the truck will be at fault. It does stink that your truck was (hopefully not) totalled, but it is replaceable. Worth noting, ...the truck owners insurance might cover the rental for you, ...have your insurance company follow up on that...

I`m glad to hear you are ok Matt!! I also burns me to read how irresponsible that chick was. You could have been seriously hurt and all she could think about was her damn friends. The insurance companies RAPE us with their high premiums and they have the AUDACITY to question you about what happened to your truck!?!? [Mad] [Mad]

I'm not trying to hijack the thread, but wanted to let you know that you can default your signature to "off" in your profile settings.

Back on topic: I hope your insurance company takes care of you. Don't let them bully you or hurry you into signing a release. Injuries can linger or manifest later on in ways you don't realize. Don't settle until you get exactly out of it what you started with (vehicle-wise) and are sure you don't have any lasting effects (injuries).
