They work, but are illegal in many states, but I dont know about canada. They recieve the incoming radar/lazer signal and find what pulse frequency they are on. It then sends back a normal return, telling the gun you are at the speed you are traveling. Then it gives 2 more readings, one at a speed close to 0, the other showing you going REALLY fast. For a radar gun to work, it takes 3 readings (or so I have been told). When the 3 readings are close, it is counted. When the readings are way off, the gun shows a false reading and no speed is regestered. Cops don't like this thing!!!
