Here's what I've been working on most of the day. Changing out the fuel pump.
Gotta take apart almost the entire rear end of the car to get the tank out. Notice the exhaust on the side.
Now you see why us F-bods have that big hump in the back. That's where the tank is at.
All for a $40 fuel pump which hides inside the tank.
What a pain. Took about 3 and a half hours to complete.
I also found out my Iginition Module went bad. So that was another trip to Kragen and another $75 in parts. Got a new cap and rotor and fuel filter while I was there.
I can only imagine the labor costs at a shop!

Luckily for us these electric fuel pumps do not go bad often. That is a lot of work.

Yeah. I think most fuel pumps now are located in the top of the gas tank like that, but its not convienent for replacement because there is no easy access. It wouldnt be so bad if they had put a hatch under the carpet in the back, so you could get access to it, you know?

Nice time to get the pump out and then put the car totally back together again.
