I have a rattle in the right trunk area of my car. Last week I pulled out the jack and coke.....wait tire (long sunday) and put rubber every where I thought the metal was touching metal and would vibrate. No dice. Has anyone else had this problem. The next step is on tuesday, to have the muffler (borla catback) removed and reinstalled. Are there other things it could be? Window? Spoiler?
Also there is now a bushing squeak when I go over bumps. What is the cure for this. Only on the back and I was thinking the spring "mount" I dont know the term yet for that.

Take a look at the sway bar bushing for dry rot, might also wnat to put it on stands and check for anything loose....or maybe have the muffler guy do it but the car needs to "Hang" to check everything. If your getting a bump or knock noise as your drive around...my first thoughts would be Tranny mount, shocks, or lower control arm bolts and all of these have rubber bushings that you should check...Just take your time, use a flashlight & check the bolts.... I know, alot of fun...
Just some thoughts.

I have also found that noises that appear to be coming from the back are actually someplace else. If you can, have someone drive and you get in the back to narrow it down.

I have a 'squeak' that seemingly comes from the rear, from inside the car it is coming through the driveshaft tunnel right between the rear seats. Driving me nuts, there is nothing mounted to the car there so it is obviously coming from somewhere else.
Good luck! Please report back what you find, maybe it will help others (and myself) find mystery squeaks.

I had that very similar squeak when I had my SS. Happened a few months after my LM exhaust was put on. I was told it was the over the axle pipe rattling against the axle. Was too lazy to even check, and its sold now. I was told to put a 'dimple' in the exhaust where it might have been touching.
It usually rattle at low rpm's (when the exhaust would vibrate more) and also over bumps etc. Was defintiely a metal sounding rattle. Dunno if that helps ya at all, but just another idea.

I have a rattle that has come back twice now since I put on my Loudmouth 3 years ago. It's the Y pipe connection. I just hit it with the impact gun and it stays tight for a while.

Check to see the rubber isn't worn away where the tail pipe hangers are, that can rattle too. Just repaired mine when popping in a new muffler and tailpipes.

I had some noise coming from the rear of my SS when I go over bumps. Turned out it was the caliper pins..a little grease and it was gone. It comes back about once a year. Lightly apply you brakes as you go over a bump and see if it goes away.

I used silcone lube on all the bushings to get rid of the squeaks when going over bumbs. Works great. Posted by Camaro_Woody (Member # 1619) on :
Results.....Squeak was the panhard bar bolts were loose, so the bushings were rubbing. The rattle was the muffler aginst the heat sheild. Put 2 washers on driver side mounting bracket and no rattle. Life is good!!

Hmmm... I think I have checked those bolts in the past but another look wouldn't hurt. Thanks for the update, glad you got your mystery noises taken care of!

I am glad too. The panhard bolts were tightened as tight as possible. should work, atleast til I check it in 6 months.
