Hi you Windows gurus, I hope some of you can help me with my problem, my animated .gif images do not work anymore and I tried everything possible to fix it, even checking off the play animations in web pages on the advanced tab in the internet options. Why would they stop moving all of a sudden? If anybody has had any expreience in fixing this please share it with me. Thanks for listening.

Do you have any ideas as to when they did work?? If you do then you can do a SYSTEM RESTORE. As to why they are not working i do not know

i had that happen to me a few months ago...still not working. Has to do with internet explorer I belevie with the java scripting or soemthing (i forget exactly what my friend said) I was going to try reinstalling IE, but thats not quite possible to do, without doing some major things in the registry. I think thats how they stopped int eh first place...mistakingly deleted something while editing it. Hope someone else may know.

A lot of times I've had problems with Windows XP and could find no one to be able to answer my problem I've went to Microsoft's web site and email them my problem and they had free support for a lot of XP owners and they will email you back the fix. Be very carefull when going into you registry a very easy way to mess up things. Usually if you follow the IE's support directions it will work out fine. Just go off of your start button and then click on help and support and down on left hand column click on fixing a problem or where it has support to a IE problem ,

I would have to do some work to test my theory, but similar problems can occur if you change the default program which reads animated GIF files to a program that can not actually read the animation. When this happens you will either get the first image in the animation or the last. Some possible causes are:
1. You installed a new version of some art program, and that changed your "default program" setting for GIF files.
OR
2. You uninstalled a program that was the "Default Program" to view Animated GIFs and not it is defaulting to another program.
Either way, a system restore (if you created restore points) should fix the problem if you know roughly when this started. If not, make sure the "Default Program" viewer for GIF files is set to something that can read Animated GIF files. (Not Micorsoft Paint).

No new art programs were installed, forget about Microshi! they want to charge you to email them. I tried to go back to a restore point, but to no avail it didn't work. I'm going to leave well enough alone, and I surely don't want to fool with the registry. Thanks for all of your inputs.
