Would someone know how to get a more aggressive sound out of the CME's without having to refinance our home [Smile] ? I was thinking about going with a cutout, but didn't know about price and installation [Confused] .

A cutout should be around 30 bucks and having it cut and welded in shouldnt be no more 40 bucks..
Unless you go with an electric cutout which is around 150 bucks..

What is the difference in a regular and an electric cutout? Will they bother the exhaust system and cause SES lights to be activated? Sorry for my ignorance, but I'm still learning all this...

No SES lights should go off. The electric cutout has a switch that you place inside the console area to open the cutout. With a regular cutout, to open it you have to crawl under the car each time to cap and un-cap the cutout. I went with the electric cutout then wired the switch where the cigarette lighter should be. It looks great... sorry I have no pics yet.

You just want the cutout passed all the O2 sensors. The most common place that I have seen is right where the passenger rear side seat is. But I have also seen them just before the muffler over top of the axle.

I guess we'll just go with the regular cutout since once it's on there, there's probably not going to be changing it (at least not that often!).

Thanks for all the info y'all! You've come through again!

Get the QTP Electric Cutout, I had the same questions you did but went ahead and got the electric cutout anyway. Let me tell you, its well worth it, your CME will sound AWESOME!!!!

I'm going to call QTP today and see if there's anyone around here that could get me one and install it...Thanks!

I have a QTEC electric cutout and I have my CME tips mated with the GMMG chambered exhaust. It sounds awesome and cost under $1,000 including installation.

Although I love the look of my CME, I was also disappointed in the sound. Every LS1 I've heard with the GMMG chambered exhaust (with headers and without) sound sweet. The cut-outs are cool if you want LOUD. But for a mellow, chest thumping rumble...chambered exhaust to your CME. You will be smiling.

My Phase II ZL1 has the QTP electric cutout that Matt Murphy installed with the GMMG chambered exhaust when they modified it along with the rest of the ZL1's. Mine was the only Phase II that GMMG equiped with the cutout. All the Phase III cars had them.

GMMG used the convertible top switch from GM and put it in the place where the switch would be on a convertible equiped car.

Makes a cool conversation piece. I get asked what the switch is for as it obviously isn't a convertible.

With the chambered exhaust, you can be civilized and then with the cutout open, you can be obnoxious! ! ! ! [Eek!]

With the cutout open, it certainly gets the blue oval boys attention ! ! ! [Big Grin]
