A bunch of blue oval boys invited me to run up to Mallory Electric (Mr. Gasket) and play on the dyno today. For $25 I said I'm in. [Cool]

I also invited my buddy Shmid with his SS. Our cars are both 02s, both have SLP LTs, MN6, he has an aftermarket lid, I have the SLP 345OE lid, SLP high flow cats through the CME muffler and tips and he's running race pipes through a loudmouth (increadibly loud) Neither cars have been tuned (Preditor or LS1edit)

He made just about 10 more rwhp than I did and about 250 decibels more noise.

We're both pretty happy with his car pulling 337.2rwhp/(I forgot his tq number) and my car pulling 328.4rwhp/348.5rwtq [Big Grin]

The mustangs:

96 Cobra SVT made 257rwhp NA and 349 with a 100 shot of nitrous.

Blown 5 litre at about 8lbs of boost made 348rwhp...once, the other run it made 307rwhp. A third run was ruled out as too much risk [Roll Eyes]

Another stang with a 306 (40 over 302) and a 400 shot of Nitrous made [drumroll] 271rwhp [Razz] Good thing he trailered that bad boy in cuase otherwise he'd had to walk home. [Big Grin]

When we ran the SSs the stang boys were shocked to see two basically stock motors make such big horsepower numbers.

That goes hand in hand why most stock SS or Z28's can take a Mustang at the track. Nice #'s Tim! [Cool]

Thats totally awesome dude [Cool] One day I'm gonna pull that kinda power out my LT1 30th. At least I know I'm powered the same as a stang but I got em beat clean on looks! [Cool] [Big Grin]

That's funny, I get the same reaction as I'm waving to them when their front ends get smaller and smaller in my rear view mirror..

I'm getting on a dyno for the very first time in my life in a couple of weeks [Smile]
Here's a stupid question...
I have a MN6 with the standard 3.42 rear. Which gear should I put it in or doesn't that matter?

4th gear...be sure to let us know how much power you end up putting down. And you won't need to get it up to the rev limiter if you don't want to...peak power is typically below 6k rpm.

Usually the dyno. operator drives the car. Anyway 4th gear gets you 1:1 ratio through the transmition.
In the last 37 years there have been lots of shocked Mustang owners.

If you look at my graph you'll see that peak power occured around 5,500 rpm [Wink]

Oh and...most of the stangs had lower gears (higher numerically) they were putting down their numbers around 110mph while I was spinning the dyno at 134 in 4th gear. [Big Grin] It amazed me how fast it ran to redline in 4th with no wind drag and just the dyno load.

Nice #'s, SSheets! I sure like the look of a white SS. [Smile]

SSheets, I thought you were going head and cam. I am almost back together and should be in the 430rwhp + range. But, nice numbers still.

SSheets, Congrats on the good #s and with tuning it will be even better I'm sure. Mine surprized a few at a shop before I did the head and cam to it. That day the car was stock except for off-road pipe and lid. It came with the duel-duel for SLP and I hade added the pipes and lid no headers and it dynoed 335rwhpand 345rwtq and I have seen a couple go a few horses higher than that with tuning stock with the lid and pipes. Brian has me beat a bunch now.
