I just had some mods done by ARE and took the 02 LE out to Milan Dragway on Wednesday. I can not hook up with my BFG Drag Radials. I really want to see what the car will do in the quarter so I can post the mods and performance gains.
Was wondering if anyone has put a tubed slick on their stock body 2002 SS. If so, what size tire and size wheel. I would like to stay with the same height. Do I have to go down to a 15 inch wheel for the slick and will it fit over the brake caliper and so on. Need help from you tire guys. Thanks Todd

Todd, I have to go for a ride in that beast! You might have to go to an 17x11 inch rim and 315s

Hey Bob.....I thought I might have to go with a smaller wheel because I don't think I can get a true drag slick in a low profile type tire and still stay around 28" 's tall. I was burning the tires for 2 good seconds before I got going anywhere. Best et was 12.60 @ 111mph.
You working tomarrow / Friday. Around 1pm I'll be leaving the post with the SS....I could stop by. I have a car appointment @ 2p in Monroe

It is probably the track prep then. You should hook fine with a 12 second car and DR's.
The guys who do run slicks run 15 and 16 inch wheels. I saw a thread on another board recently recommending 28x11.5x15" Hoosier QTP's on Bogart wheels.
Oh, you'll need a rear end soon if you get the slicks!

With an ET like that I need a ride in that Camaro also! Posted by Blu SS 98 (Member # 1812) on :
With proper track prep you should be able to hook half way decent with the Drag Radials. As stated before, if you go to a slick step down to the 15" wheel, and be prepared to add a 12 bolt soon. I know of a few folks that have broken rearends on the first time out with slicks. Ther are cars running in the 9's on drag radials so you sould be able to make them work, it just takes time and adjustments. Have fun, be safe.
