This morning I passed a white Z28 convertible with Brickyard decals (which you NEVER see down here) on it . The date on the door decal said August 7, 1999. Okay:

1) I thought only SS's could be christened as Brickyards. This was a Z.

2) How many Brickyards were there in any given year??

[Confused]

There are quite a few Z28 Brick Yards.

Most of the Silver 2002 Brick Yards are Z's
All of the Red 2002 Brick Yards are SS's
The greeen and white ones I think were all SS's
The Purple and White were a mixed bag

The 1999 Brickyard 400 Camaro was a Z28. The 1998 and 2000's were white and also SS'. The prior 1998's were also Z28 convertibles and were white.
Most of the 1994-1996 Brickyard 400 Festival Cars had their decals removed prior to selling them. The 2001 Brickyard 400 is the 35th Anniversary LE convertible and the 2002 was the Sebring Silver Z7D SS convertible.Due to the lack of SS availability in 2002, some of the Sebring Silver Z28's that were used for the Indy 500 event were redecaled to be Brickyard 400 Festival Cars. I think there were around 5 or so that were used. That may explain why there were 57 Z7D Brickyard 400's made and the Fbodfather owns #62 of 57. The 2001 and 2002 Brickyard 400 was the only 2 events that were held that used the same year Camaro SS convertible Festival Cars. Most years there were between 50 and 57 Brickyard 400 Festival Cars and for some reason in 2001 there were only 45 Festival cars...the lowest number for any event.

Here is a picture of the 1996 Brickyard 400 actual Pace Car that I took at last years Brickyard 400 event. It is really a 1996 Camaro that looks like a 1997 30th Anniversary Z4C.

Here is what a 1995 Indy 500 Festival Car looks like. It is the only one known to exist that still has the decals on it.Sorry I don't have pictures of any of the older Brickyard 400's

Thanks for the info!! I think this guy must have been taking it out for a test drive, as he off turned into the dealership (which, btw, is NOT known for their ethics.....) so I'm glad to know that it's probly a real Brickyard. [Wink]

Maybe you will see that car again and get some pictures. It should have a white "Camaro" windshield banner and a car # in the lower left corner of the windshield. With the VIN, I could find out more about the cars history at the Brickyard 400.

What color were the decals? Like Greg said I've only seen cars from the 97 on up brickyard race. If it had green decals I think it's from the 97 race.

I'll check this afternoon to see whether it's on their lot. This is the same dealership that was sooooo rude and refused to budge from a $1000 difference in my price and their price on a black SS that had been sitting there FOREVER -- they even had to jump it for me to test drive it! [Roll Eyes] ....so I'd just LOVVVVVE to drive babyT thru there!! hahaha!!! [Big Grin]

There was even a Z-28 version of the Z7D silver Brickyard with Indy decals

Welp....went poking around the lot last night....even called 'em this morning.....it was a customer's car.

So I ran the license plate.... [Big Grin] .....nuthin'.... [Frown]

If I see it again, I'll try to pull him over & talk to him (I have no shame [Razz] ). The decals looked like the ones in Greg's first picture up there, and it also had decals all down the sides of the car (on the fenders), as well as the white windsheid banner.

It is SOOOOOOO COOL to see a car like that down here.....like the time that black Z06 with a C5R hood & Michigan plates passed me......*sigh*....

....as I've said before, most of the fbodies I see around here are dented-up primer-coated 3rd gen's with one headlight..... [Frown]

Unfortunitly, most of the older Brickyard 400 Camaros had their decals removed either by the selling dealer or the new owner. They just look like a Arctic White Camaro Convertible then. [Frown]
