Just going down the road today, started to smell plastic, other motorists start flagging me, and it wasn't the usual thumbs up.
Holy Batmobile ! I'm laying a smoke screen out the back.
Whole lamp assy on fire.
Just distorted / discolored the spoiler a little. Started from passenger side of the lamp. Part of it still works, but it melted away from the bolt that holds it to the spolier. Hope that's all it needs.
Bad news, 60,125 miles (daily driver)
I guess it could be worse, but still a bad day. On my way to Cheby Parts Posted by TimeLord (Member # 1389) on :

Wow! First time I have heard that one. Many have had the lights burn out but never burn up.

Over at the Corvetteforum some character was looking for a way to create flames from his exhaust tips- sounds like you could improvise on that idea with the flaming spoiler!
(If we were back in the days of the SLP forum I could imagine somebody on the board Photochopping it....)

It did start to melt the spoiler but not where it's seen.
$125. 2 in stock at Cheby, and about an hour, little heat shrink.
she's mo betta now
Remember all the cracked lenses ( I got one on warranty) ? This part had three hairline, and I mean barely visible harlines, at all three holes on the lens/lamp. I think they're all cracked on assy. my hypothesis i put a little vinyl grommet on both sides Posted by 2002Z4CSS (Member # 1393) on :
I am suprised the brake light fuse did not blow with that higher amp draw. Glad to hear the whole spoiler did not burn up.

That was my first thought also, it should take out the fuse first!
