I have never been unemployed. I have been with this company through several mergers, name changes and over seven layoff periods in 12 years. It's no surprise that my time would eventually come. We were 800+ strong four years ago and now the company, after these layoffs, numbers about 25 people left. We received a small severance package which will afford me about three months to find a new job. I am extremely fortunate to have my Military retirement to help out with the unemployment checks. I'm sorry to hear that. It was a strange and sad day at work here today also. The electrician I share an office with was let go today, after 28 years with DuPont. DuPont cut about 350 jobs today. Another mechanic in the powerhouse was let go also, with even more years of service. My old high school friend, Bob, was let go from a DuPont site in Newark. he had 23 years with DuPont. [Frown]

I am very sorry to hear this. I know what you are going through as it happened to me as well when a company I worked for closed up and moved to California after it was purchased by the Japanese. Best of Luck in finding a job real soon.

Man O Man, anyone have any good news? From 800
down to 25, that's quite a drop! I guess you
had a good run, time to start fresh somewhere
else. Any competitors you can try to latch on
with?

Thanks for all your support. I don't plan on relocating. JimbO, thanks for the Titan Corp web site. They have an opening in Tampa that fits me but I hope to find a local company. I am an Audio/Video/Video Conferencing Field Engineer/Technical Support Engineer with 12 years experience. I have already started looking for a new job/career.

Really sorry to hear that. Its becoming more often here. Nuttin we can do about it. When my dad left AT&T after 36 years, his floor of the building had ONE person working per shift...down from almost 1000 people 30 years ago...its pretty sad.
