I am looking for the firehawk 50's Where can I find them? Tire rack, I can not locate them. My buddy at a tire place can not find them. Can the wonderful, all knowing SSOA members locate 4 or a place to call to find them?

One of the pitfalls of searching for obsolete, or nearly obsolete tires is that even if you scrounge up a set, if you have a mishap, where would you find another?
I don't doubt the potential performance advantage of the Firehawk tires over stock, but I'm willing to bet there's another tire that is comparible with the firehawks performance-wise. The only way I would consider buying hard to find tires is if it was an OEM tire for a restoration of a show car or something. I really was wanting a set of Firehawks but because they were already hard to find, I decided to go with the F1s again. I'd really like to know if the tale of the honcho at Firestone saying they were not discontinuing the Firehawk tire in our stock size was actually realized. I'm beginning to think not, since if they weren't, every tire place in North America would be able to find a set.
Besides, if TimeLord's new test tires turn up to be better...just something to consider.
Of course, as always, it is your money and your choice.

Only sizes they list are P245/45R17 and P275/40R18. Again, I haven't seen any proof that the Firehawk 275/40/17s are still available anymore.

... and these are the EMT tires for the 'Vette... that they are continuing to offer. Those are the only sizes in SZ50EP that Firestone is offering.
Best regardSS,

So what is a compromise to the 50's. The kdw's were the second choice I believe. Are they close, or will the difference be felt? I want more than what comes stock, and dont mind paying a little more for a great tire. el, how do you like the f1's?

I've had Michelin Pilot Sports on for the last 2 years and I highly recommend them. Before that I had Firestone SZ's, and of course before those I had the F1's. The SZ's were hands down better than the F1's. Then I bought the Michelins and they are probably the best tires I've ever run, wet or dry. Were they worth the $ difference from the SZ's? Probably not, but I was also looking for 315's and the SZ's were on backorder in that size at the time. But they're great tires and if I had to replace them today I'd probably buy the same thing, since the SZ's aren't available.
I'm also very interested in Timelord's test and reaction to Firestone's new tire.

I've heard a lot about the KDW's being a very good tire. The F1s were the OEM tire, and they're ok for me because I'm not into racing the car, but the only reason I got those over the KDW's was that I got them on the cheap because they were a set of take-offs. They actually ended up cheaper than I could have got the KDW's for, so I already knew what I was getting for the money. They're quiet, and great dry traction, but I'm not sure if I would buy them again at full retail price because they're a little spendy, like Randy's (fenton23) Michelins. But because of everyone's raving about the Firehawks, that was my first choice, but I simply couldn't find any in the stock size. I am interested in TimeLord's study, however.

I delivered flowers to the F/B reps wife yesterday, while I was there got a chance to chat with him and view the tire. It looks like a cross between the SZ50 and the new Bridgestone G009/RE750 and RE950 all rolled into one. It has the same treadwear as the SZ50 but he says he doesn't think that in reality they will last quite as long[they are stickier supposedly]. He said that he tried them against TOYO/YOKO/Michelin/Conti/Pirelli on cars varying fron Civics to 540's ,they outperformed all the others but Michelin but were 1/3 the price. Should get mine thursday or friday, will let you know how they feel as soon as I know!!

I'm just about to buy a set of tire and now you have me re-thinking.
So, what tire are you talking about ? Link to a pic ? Cost ?

Another question, on the link that you posted on the previous thread; they didn't have the Fuzion tires in the standard SS tire size. Will they be making that tire at a later time?
Thanks!
