Just a qwik note to say my baby is back home. I bought this car new as an ordered vehicle in Dec. of '00. Due to a change in circumstances, I had to part with it in Sept. of '02. The car changed hands three more times after that before coming back to me. Fortunately, the car has had appreciative owners who've taken reasonably good care of it. It has fewer miles on it than it would have had if I had kept it all along and it came back to me with a brand new set of BFG T/A KDWS and new brakes all around. Mechanically it's still like new and cosmetically it needs only a good detailing to make it near perfect again. It's picked up a couple of small stone chips on the front and a very small scratch on the right rear quarter that's been touched up very well. You can't see it unless you know where to look. The only visible sign of wear on the inside is in the usual driver's side seat bolster and I already have a new seat cover for it. Just need to install it and then it's essentially a brand new interior to look at it.

Yeah, an opportunity like this doesn't present itself that often and I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time on this one. I really went over it pretty thoroughly looking for signs of abuse and took it on a fairly long road-test. No noise out of the differential, no vibration or slop in the drivetrain, no slippage in the clutch, no motor noise beyond the very mild piston slap when it's first started. The ride is still glass smooth with only a little more tire noise with the BFG's vs the original F1's. If it had been hammered, I would have sadly had to pass. I'm glad it worked out. The car is all there.
It was bought by the sales manager of the dealership where I bought my replacement car. Within about 2 weeks, the sales manager left the dealership and went to work at another dealer about 20 miles away. He kept the car, mostly in the garage, for some time then sold it to a technician who worked at his dealership. The technician kept it only a short time then traded it at his dealership for a truck. The car then spent several months on the lot until just this past February when it was bought by someone out of the local area. Between February and the 1st week of May, the new owner got stopped 4 times, twice for not displaying a front plate, and twice for having a little too much, ahem, fun....
Between attracting too much attention from the local law enforcement and biting off more than he could chew from a payment standpoint, he traded it for a used Cherokee back to the original dealer where I bought my replacement vehicle. They then contacted me and asked me to take a guess at what just came back on the lot. So...in more ways than one, the car really has come full circle.
I'm absolutely delighted to have it back and I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity and good fortune to get it back in pretty close to the same shape that it was in when I parted with it. Too bad the weather is so poopy out there today or I'd be all over and under it detailing. Plenty of time for that I suppose...
