That is for sure Pete and how well I remember his times and can say I voted for him both times. But look at it this way he had a great life and a long one and he will be missed

Agreed, this is a very sad day for America. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Reagan family and their many friends.
I'm deeply grateful for the service of a man of such great and optimistic vision, conviction, and character. I was honored to have been able to cast my vote for him. He inspired a lethargic nation to believe in itself again. While all the monuments, dedications, and testimnials seek to honor and express our sincere gratitude to President Reagan, I think the most meaningful tribute we can bestow will be to never lose faith that our best days as a nation and a society are still ahead of us.

I was too young to vote for the Gipper...I didn't turn 18 until 1985. I remember having an EXREME liberal U.S. Government teacher in high school who used to have Anti-Reagan posters in our classroom. One poster was a big picture of Reagans face framed by missles with the caption "Warhead". I look back at that time and think, Isn't it funny that this President who brought upon the end of the cold war with the Soviet Union without a shot fired was labled a war-monger.

Reagan was the first person I voted for in 1980 when I became eligible to vote. I voted for him again in '84 but did not agree with the way he handled the PATCO workers by firing them. Just my opinion.
I think he was labeled a war-monger becuase of the invasion of Grenada and also taking on Qaddafi by bombing his palace and killing 3 of his children. And yes I have to agree that he did help bring an end to the Cold War and Soviet Union with the buildup of our defenses and the Soviets not being able to keep up with it.

My mom and I were just talking about Reagan yesterday at lunch. She gave me an old book that I had him sign when we (my dad, mom and me) went to a Presidential dinner honoring him.
He truely was a great man. My thoughts and prayers are with Nancy and the whole family.

Reagan was a longtime resident here - his ranch is a little north of here (although today it's being threatened by a brushfire) and so he was very popular. I remember lots of things about him since we saw him quite a few times in person. He was indeed a very nice man.
My biggest highlight was as a kid when Reagan attended our church on Easter Sunday. We all wondered what was happening with all the strange men in dark suits outside the church. He then walked in and sat in the front row on the aisle with Nancy. At the end of the service, I went up front with my Dad to help clean up and saw his church program sitting on the pew. I picked it up and took it home. I still have it somewhere around here.

I have alway been a admirer of President Reagan. To me, one of his most memorable speeches was the one he delivered in the wake of the Challenger disaster in 1986. At the age of 16 when I heard it, it left quite an impression on me. Two of my favorite quotes from that speech are...
