Well I took Big Blue out to the track on Friday. This was my first time drag racing (legally). What a blast, but I was a little disappointed. I expected to pull mid to low 13's but was getting mid to low 14's. My best time of the night was 14.38 at 97 mph. The car is totally stock so I guess I've got some work to do. I am hooked though. I plan to go back several times this summer.

What kind of elevation and heat where you at? How many miles on your car?

Tom its the track and your tires maybe and the heat. Most LS1's stock will easy get in the 13's if they hook up any at all

Some of the F-Bodt Addict crew meets out there on Wed evenings...yep the track is slick

Altitude Correction
LACR is 2,710 ft. above sea level.
To figure the altitude factor the formula is as follows:
ET: multiply your et (at LACR) by .97
MPH: multiply your mph (at LACR) by 1.03
This will give you the ET & MPH at sea level

Yup you are correct. But my LT1 ran 15's on my first time at the track and took some work to get it down to 14.7 that day. I'm sure with more practice you'll get into the 13's. My best time stock was 14.2. I pulled a 13.88 with a power tuned PCM and a 2.16 60 foot time. Check your 60 foot times to se how well you are hooking up. [Cool] Pratice dude practice! I was getting pretty good traction. A little wheel spin right off the line an a nice little chirp going into 2nd. My 60 ft times were 2.24, 2.15, 2.29 etc.

Well remember this was your 1st time. Practice will make your times better. [Smile]

Practice ... and remember, most of us don't advertise our bad times. [Big Grin]

I was pretty dissappointed the first time out when i couldn't break into the 13's either. Over time the dissappointment became not being able to break into the 12's. [Smile]

Most would agree that a 2.0 or less 60 foot time is good. For every 1/10th you knock off your 60, its worth 2 tenths off on the 1/4 mile E/T. That little chirp into second sounds great, but is also hurting your time as well. With more experience you will get there. Keep us posted! [Smile]
