Looking at installing one in my garage, and trying to figure out what's the minimum ceiling clearance I need. Anyone have a lift with two stacked f-bodies (or a f-body and a Vette )...I'm hoping I can fit them under a 10' ceiling.

The electric 4 post lift that I was looking at could be used with 10' ceilings. You may not be able to lift the car all the way up, but it would get high enough to perform most work.

Thanx, did it have a feature where you could limit it's vertical travel?

I did not see that on the ones I was looking at but they probably offer that feature. The twin post hoists I have used had a bar across the top of the 2 posts that had a limit switch on it and when the car touched that switch, the power was cut off to the pump. I don't remember the brand name of the 4 post unit, but it was made here in Michigan. It even had wheels on it so it could be moved around in the garage. When the hoist was lowered, the wheels would make contact with the floor.

thanx...I've looked at several 4-post lifts, the best have all the hoisting mechanisms enclosed, so nothing is exposed. I did not notice a feature to limit travle, but I don't think that would be too difficulty to implement. Since the birds are about 4' high each, I would think that a 10' ceiling would give you enough clearance. I have a lot of information on the various lifts, what I was really looking for was someone who had one that could tell me if 10' was an adequate ceiling height to stack two f-bodies (or an f-body and a MoPar )

You might also try Rotary Lift for some information. I see in their brochure that they have a Low Ceiling (LC) lift for a 10' ceiling.
I'm wondering if they recommend a 12' ceiling height so you can put two full sized vehicles on it, or if that's based upon the full travel of the lift. Plus that one is a two post lift, so it might require move overhead clearance since the upper crossbar has to clear the car's roof.

I have a Perfect Park 7000 4 post lift. My ceilings are 14 foot so I can put mine all the way up. I can even leave my hood open and it won't hit the ceiling.
I have numerous friends with lifts in their garage which only have 9'6" and 10' ceilings. Yes, you can use them but you can't put the lift all the way up. You can still store a car under it. You just have to be careful. If you need more info, please feel free to ask.

Jimbo, I have an Eagle 4 post lift and a 10' ceiling in my garage. I keep a 92 Z28 on top and a 94 Z28 underneath. I have no problems with clearance. My lift does not have a limit switch, but I am the only one that operates the lift and I know when to stop!!!
I will be adding another Eagle lift in the near future.

Do you think there is enough room in a standard 2-car garage to install 2 lifts side-by-side. Mine is 21' x 21' with a 16' door...

I have three 4-Post lifts made by Gemini Lift of Fort Worth, TX (http://www.geminilift.com). 10' ceiling height may be tight but may work if you don't raise to full height. I have 13'-6" ceiling height and with garage door openers and lifts fully raised it is just enough. I stack both Camaros and Corvettes. Had to modify the bracket on the slide to allow proper clearance to the roof of my Camaros, Corvettes were fine.
