Well Matt I can't tell you from my experience as I still have all of mine. But a friend that I work with had all of his taken out at the same time and he was off of work for two days plus he was still in some discomfort when he came hack. I can't remember what kind of pain reliever he was precribed with. Good luck amd get plenty of rest.

Depends. Mine were actually going almost competely sideways into the teeth in front of them instead of up or down. I had some huge craters left that required a lot of special attention afterwards. Mostly discomfort after the first day, not so much out right pain.

Had it done, all 4 at once, all impacted. Was painless, they knocked me out for it. Had to be driven home, their rules so they don't get sued. Started to hurt a couple days later, but the painkillers they give you help a lot. It's mostly just a soreness, like you got beat up a little. Goes away in a week, week and a half. Well, I am back... They gave me IV sedation, so I was totally out during the operation. I remember them putting the needle in the back of my hand, and they was it. I was talking to the nurse about camping then nothing... The way I like it. However it has been 7 hours, all of the drugs the dentist gave me are gone, but I am on a steady diet of pudding, vicodin, and antibiotics. Oh, man I tried soup and what a mistake. They tell you not to make any suction in your mouth, good luck swallowing soup with your mouth open. I am sooo hungry...

ICE is your friend. Keep ice packs on your cheeks for as long as you can for a few days. This way your cheeks won't blow out. I was told to keep ice on them for just a few hours afterwards. I had ice on for 2 days and no swelling at all.
Do water and peroxide gargling every few hours to keep the wounds clean. Last thing you want is an infection. After every meal and drink, wash out your mouth with a water peroxide solution.
And try not to play with the stitches with your tongue to often. My tongue was sore for a few days reaching back that far. HeHe.

ditto above.....had mine done in college...no probs at all; just keep it clean & live on pudding 'n painkillers for a few.....DUUUUUUDE!! what a weekend!!!
(oh...for the hunger...make the pudding with heavy whipping cream...you won't get hungry!!)

Ohh... That sounds like a good idea with the pudding and whipped cream. Thanks Millie! Yup it looks like I will be on a steady diet of pain killers and pudding for a couple of days. I am hoping the pain will end soon. I keep reading online that people are in pain for weeks with this, it almost made me not want to go today. I actually thought about canceling it. Glad now that I didn't... Thanks again, and if anyone else has any ideas for some good soft food, or a way to help reduce the pain let me know.

Steve da Wrench had a lot of pain and dry sockets.
I had no problem at all. Had my 3 wisdom teeth (yes, only 3 developed) out in the a.m. and by p.m. ate 4 cans of chicken noodle soup. Went to the beach with a co-worker the next day and had a bacon cheeseburger for lunch. No pain, no bleeding, no problem at all. The key may have been the surgeon cut the teeth out of the side of my gum instead of the biting surface.
A friend of ours is having 6 wisdom teeth out this Thursday (yes, 6 developed), and then he's supposed to be Steve's navigator on a road rally on Friday. I sure hope he makes it. Steve is really looking forward to this TSD ROAD RALLY. Posted by MY02SSLE (Member # 2178) on :
Yeah, I am suprised! I had expected more pain then what I had. I have heard some horror stories about dry socket, which was one of my largest worries. I gave up Soda, Smoking, eating good food to make sure I didn't get dry socket. I think I am out of the woods now; it has been 4 days... Thanks everyone for the best wishes! I really hope Steve's friend will be good to go. 6... pfew! I couldn't do it...
