Ok....babyT's left rear center cap got all loose & so when I took him in yesterday, the dude says they'll try to tighten it, but that it's got to be replaced & he's ordered me a new one....so I say isn't that an SLP part?? He says no...it's a GM part...(I've got the chrome 10-spokes)
Anyone have this happen?? Did they get you the right cap??
...ain't havin' no trailer-park mis-matched wheel caps....nossir.... Posted by fenton23 (Member # 878) on 13 July, 2004 02:54 PM:
Millie, there are two different caps for those wheels. One has the SS on it and the other has the bowtie. I don't remember which ones you have but it'd probably be worth pointing that out to the guy and have him make sure that he's ordered the right one.

If you have the chrome 10 spokes, you'll need to get it from SLP. Especially if it has the SS emblem on it.
If you have the standard issue painted silver wheels with the silver center cap with the bowtie in them (as shown below), those are standard GM centercaps for 02 Camaro factory aluminum wheels, either style. p/n 9594329 Should be around 20-25 bucks or so each from the dealer.
So the answer is...it depends....

Hey Milli!
I believe the the factory 10-spokes, whether chrome or painted are a GM part, whereas the 5-spokes are an SLP part.

Duh me! I just saw you said you had the chrome 10 spokes...yup, you're going to get the cap that's like the pic above...not the right one. You need this one instead. Part # 80016, $35 plus 8.95 shipping for a set of 4. So that's about 11 bucks each for four of them. I'd go that route.
Edit: Oh yeah, forgot to mention, this is an SLP part, not a GM part.
However, if you want to do a warranty issue through SLP...that's probably a whole nuther ball of wax.

Never heard of one getting loose but I guess they can and it is a SLP part will have to come from them as said

OK...SLP part....that's what Mr. Addicted told me...so I'm wondering if they're going to order the SS logo one from SLP???? SURELY they wouldn't order a bowtie one with the other 3 being SS logo.....would they???
...if they do, I guess I'll just have to pitch a little diva-hissy-fit....lol!!
Fortunately, they tightened up the one on there & it seems just fine now.....

This is a dealership you're talking about!! Posted by SS_CarGuy (Member # 2065) on 14 July, 2004 02:39 PM:
Milli.......those caps just snap in. They can't be tightened per se. Ask what he did to "tighten" it. Maybe you don't need a new one.

Thanks, Dave....I'll call back & ask to speak with whoever worked on him cuz the service "advisor" didn't seem to know a whole lot about it....
