Hawkeye Camaro-Fest 2004 will be held June 26th, 2004 at Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, Iowa. This area community college campus has adequate parking (the parking lot where this show will be held has 1,200 parking spaces) and Ankeny had 5 relatively new, modern motels.
For those unfamiliar with Iowa, Ankeny is the northern suburb of Des Moines. Ankeny is easily accessible as I-35 runs on the eastern edge of the city and Ankeny is just a couple of miles north of where both I-80 (east/west) intersects with I-35 (north/south).

J.D.,
I really wish this show was a month later but June is already booked solid for me. 1st the Power Cruise and then an ocean cruise to Alaska.
I'm originally from this area. I graduated from Saydel High and my uncle was a librarian at DMACC until he retired. I used to cruise (quickly) up and down old Polk City Road way before they straightened it out. First in my Mustangs (and I'm not proud of those days) and then in my '76 Trans Am. My Mom lives between Des Moines and Ankeny.
I plan to drive the 'Vert up there in July to see my Mom. Maybe we can hook up for a beverage and some bench racing.

Randy,
That would be cool. Would love to meet you also.
I will be on the Hot Rod Power Tour too. Will join it in Davenport on June 9th with some of the other folks from the Mid-Iowa Camaro Club.
When you get to Ankeny in July, I won't be hard to find. I am a co-owner of the local Tires Plus facility there.
Maybe you could go with some of the members of the club on a "casual cruise" night. We have "casual cruises" every second and fourth Tuesday of the month. This is an opportunity for club members to get together, drive their cars to one of our club sponsors restaurants and tip a cool one and have a bite to eat.
When in July do you think you will be in DSM?
Alot of us will be gone July 1st through July 5th to Camaro Super-Fest in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
I also see you joined our club website too. Cool ! ! !

J.D,
Thanks for the info. I'm going to shoot for being in Des Moines for that 4th Tuesday in July, but I'll PM you when it gets closer. I may have to push that to the 2nd Tuesday in August now. It looks like we'll miss each other on the Power Tour as I'm starting with them in Arlington but only going to Springfield. I know that Tim and Erin LeCrone (BLU SS 98) are doing the Long Haul so they'll be in Davenport for the rest of the trip.

The show is really taking off ! ! !
We will have several "special" 4th gen Camaros there including a half dozen or so new ZL1 SuperCars (Phase I's, Phase II's and Phase III's), a phase II Hot Rod Magazine Camaro, a Dale Earnhardt Intimidator SS Camaro, a phase II Berger SS Camaro and also some special 1st gen Camaros including a Yenko and possibly a 1st gen ZL1.
We have had responses from the Cental Illinois Camaro Club (Springfield, IL), the Gateway Camaro Club (St. Louis, MO) and the Kansas City Camaro Club (Kansas City, MO) who indicate they are all coming.
For those of you in Iowa, and for those of you in the surrounding states, i.e., Minnesota, Illinois, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas and Wisconsin, we invite you to spend Saturday, June the 26th with us in Ankeny, Iowa.
Ankeny is the northern suburb of Des Moines and is easily accessible from either I-80 (east/west interstate) or I-35 (north/south interstate). The show is being held on the campus of D.M.M.A.C. (Des Moines Area Community College). They have given us their largest parking lot to use with room for up to 1,200 cars (I hope we will need it all ).

For those people attending from out of town that would like to spend Friday night, Saturday night or both nights in Ankeny, we have negotiated a special rate with a local motel in Ankeny.
The Best Western Metro North located at 133 S.E. Delaware Avenue in Ankeny priced a room with one king sized bed or two queen sized beds to us for the bargain basement price of $49.00 per night (plus applicable taxes) for up to four people per room. To receive this rate, simply call the motel at (515) 964-1717 and tell them that you want the Hawkeye Camaro-Fest 2004 special rate. If any clerk on the telephone seems unaware of this special rate, tell him/her to talk to the General Manager of the motel, Wes Greve to verify the rate.
The usual rate charged for these rooms are $63.00 (for one person) or $73.00 for two to four people per room.
This motel is a nice motel with a very large parking lot (for those of you pulling a trailer with your car either on it or inside it) just one block off of the interstate (I-35). They have their own restaurant and bar in the motel and several other restaurants are within a block of the motel including Village Inn, Appleby's, Arby's and Burger King.
