Just a reminder that "COMPFEST 2001" is just around the corner August
11th & 12th at Norwalk Raceway Park in Norwalk, Ohio. Compfest is being
held in conjunction with "THE PONTIAC NATIONALS" and "THE FIREHAWK/COMP
T/A RALLY". That's 3 shows in one! Each member is eligible to win a
show trophy from both The Pontiac Nationals and the Firehawk/Comp T/A
rally. Trophies will also be awarded for the Comp T/A drag racing program. That
makes 3 trophies you could win! This year we hope to break the record of
most Comp T/A's together at the same time. If we break the record we
will have a group picture taken to be published in a magazine! 2
different participant T-shirts will offered as well. Let Dean Fait (deanfait@aol.com)know how
many shirts you want and what sizes in advance of the show..
The host hotel is the Norwalk EconoLodge. All rooms at the Econolodge
my be filled up. ;o( Go to this link for other motels in the area http://www.firehawk.org/article.html?ID=1681. The Best Western across
the street would be the next best choice. Even if you are not staying at
the Econolodge, this will be the meeting place both on Friday and
Saturday evening. Some us us are camping at the track on Friday and
Saturday night. The camping is FREE and we can camp next to our cars in
the show car area. They drag race until about 1 or 2 in the morning if
you want to watch. I have also seen a few burnout's (by Firebirds) in
the parking lot around 4am. COOL! After the SLP dinner and Cruise In on
Sat. night we can caravan back to the track. The gate is open all night
so you can come and go as you please. They have a guard posted at the
gate. They have clean rest rooms and showers with a attendant on duty.
They also have a free breakfast on Sat. & Sun. mornings. (donuts and
juice) If you plan on camping please let Dean know.
The Annual SLP Saturday evening Dinner Tickets at the Holiday Inn are
doing well. Seating is limited. Jim Mattison from PMD (The father of the
Comp T/A) will be at the dinner. So will Ed and Dave Hamburger and Reg Harris
from SLP. This would be a great time to have the underside of your hoods
and magazine covers autographed! If you have not ordered your please do
so ASAP. The cut off date for Dinner Tickets is 7-28-01 or unless all
seats are sold before this date. For complete info on Dinner go to http://www.firehawk.org/article.html?ID=1679. For ordering Dinner
