after installing the new filter i noticed a better punch for sure..its the only thing i have done for performance after reading many posts i know im way behind,but money is tight..i know i need exaust what is the best ../...borla, slp,..if im going to spend the money i also want it installed correctly..i live in illinois..mabey joliet i hear .im not sure what is best.. for my 2000 its black on black...i laff at the local sucktangs..havent been taken from a light yet most of them wont challenge me..any mustang haters outhere,,?

Unless you really want to spend a ton of money, I suggest what I did. Keep everything stock EXCEPT for the muffler. Get A Flowmaster single in, dual out. I think it's the 80 series. Nice rumble sound, less restriction, looks dual...nice. All in I think I spent a grand total of $100 and, if I do want to spend more, I can always do a cat back or take off at some point in the future. Your choice, just my humble opinion. I have the GMMG chamberred cat-back exhaust. It wasn't cheap ($650), but I really like it a lot. It has a great sound and I think it added a bit of power as well. You can see videos of the car and hear the exhaust at this link - http://another.dimension.net/efa/

Okay, here comes the Borla freak....
I'm all for Borla...it's a great product and comes with a million mile warranty! The tech side of the house is great as well! They sent me out a whole new muffler in a matter of days because mine wasn't sitting quite right...so minor, but they were willing to go that far for me....
I love the sound of the Borla and...it's adjustable. There is a electrical component that is made that you can switch from inside the compartment of your console and you can change out your plates without even turning a wrench. It isn't cheap either...
If you are looking at a low cost aggressively sounding exhaust....than I would choose the SLP Loudmouth.

My bad, JK2000 - unfortunately, I was thinking I was still on the V-6 message board. The V-6 has single pipe running from the cat to the muffler with (on mine anyway)a single in dual out muffler. I'm really not sure what a v-8 setup should be. Maybe that's why us v-6ers aren't particularly like on some other boards that cater to v-8's I promise next time that I'll start brain before engaging mouth (or fingers). The adjustable exhaust you're referring to is the PowerEffects exhaust - I've only seen it available for the Corvette.
I also went the route of stock WS6 headers and exhaust, and replaced the muffler with a Flowmaster 80 series. For some reason mine wasn't 3" in (the pipe was 2.5") but the muffler shop was able to weld it in.
It sounds great, and really opened up the exhaust. My rear exhaust pipes used to be cool to the touch even after a long drive, and now you could cook an egg on them !
