On my 98 vert RA, the exhaust only has one tailpipe on the drivers side. Why did they do this and was it only in 1998?

Only '98 .. that was the base exhaust for the WS6 and SS. It makes the advertised horsepower .. just isn't what most folks expect to see ... All the exhausts are single pipe to the muffler anyway.
