I talked with Larry from www.seriousauto.com and said we can get a good price on their windstop for Camaro and Firebird Convertibles.

Well the owner sent me a few pictures of the windstop, however, they were no better than the one on the website. I emailed him back asking for better photos or atleast a list of people who have bought one. Maybe we can email them and get better pictures.

I'll keep ya posted.

Its starting to get cold here, I would really like to order one of these.

What if another supplier could beat the price AND post detailed pics for us? I have a lead on someone that is looking into it, but has had a hard time getting the manufacturer to respond in a timely manner. Hold tight and let's see what can be done for us.

Almost a month ago Teri asked us if we knew anything about the Windstop and suggested we check on it. We have finally received some results this week after reaching the right person. We received a demo today. We had a very short amount of time this afternoon with the only convertible available to us to try it out. We mainly wanted to get some pictures for everyone. Here is one and the rest are on the website:

We ran out of time before we could completely secure the hardware so we couldn't take it for a test drive to see the difference it made inside. We can probably try again over the weekend. It was secure enough to give accurate pictures though (please excuse the dirty car and the turkey in the back seat...this is not an enthusiast's car).

It has been added to the store for $195.00, no group purchase required. We do not actually have any in stock yet, but if there is still interest we could place our order Monday and probably have them by the end of next week. We weren't sure if a group purchase already went through. Sorry it took us a little while to get the information. We have noticed that manufacturers are very busy at this time of year.

If anyone has any questions we'll try to answer them the best we can. We'll be back online Friday afternoon (heading out of town).

Those were the kind of pictures we were looking for. It looks like it may even clear the Wolf Racecraft rollbar ... that would be a real bonus.

One question????

Can the back seat be folded down with the windstop in place? The pictures look like it connects to the rear seat belts. Just wondering.

We are placing an initial order of Windstops tomorrow, so we will have some in stock soon. Hopefully by the end of the week.

We had a little time today with the convertible Camaro and went to install it again to take it for a spin. As things go...we dropped a nut down into the side of the car and couldn't get it.

We did look at the rear seat and it appears there is no problem having the seat folded down. The Windstop has brackets that grip around the seat belt anchors. I'm not sure if you can put the seat down while it is installed, but if you put the seat down first, then put the Windstop on it looks like it will work fine because the achors are not affected. The Windstop is real easy to take off and put back on. It has two slide levers towards the front on each side to release it from the front brackets and then you just pull it away from the selt belt anchors. Takes less than a minute.

Did you get to drive with it? If yes - did it make a big difference? Also is it something that you think you will continue to carry? My car won't need one till spring, but I don't want to miss out on getting one it it's a limited order.Thanks

Unfortunately we haven't been able to drive with it on yet. Limited time with the demo car and dropping pieces into the car has slowed us down.

Of course we would love for you to order one now but we do plan to continue offering it in the store in an area we would like to devote to convertibles. The manufacturer had plenty so I don't think you will run into a problem of being able to find one in a few months.

A little update on the Windstop...had a chance to meet with a local SSOA member today, John Corpany, and we installed the Windstop on his 35th Anniv. SS. It looked nice and we learned that the convertible boot piece still goes on without a problem. The back seat will fold down, but you do need to fold it down before putting the windstop on. The best part was I got to go for a ride in his new SS. Very nice 35th Anniv.

I thought the Windstop helped reduce the wind and made the interior quieter. I can't say how much though since I'm not used to convertibles. I'll let John share his opinions with you. He drove off with it still installed and was going to test it out some more. We took a few more pictures and they will be up on our web site soon for those interested in looking.

We've placed an initial order with the manufacturer but haven't received it yet. Should be here pretty soon.

You're certainly entitled your opinion ... but so am I

We've got a little over 44,000 miles on our ragtop in 28 months. Probably 35,000 of that is with the top down, and over 25,000 of that at interstate speeds. Anything that will allow us to do even more top down driving in iffy weather is worth it to me.

Also, when you're loaded up for a trip, where do you put the T-tops when you want to run with the out?

It was really nice meeting you last Sunday.

As weather here in Texas is top down freindly these days. I've been able to spend quite a bit of time test driving the Windstop on my car. I have been pleasantly surprised at the difference the WindStop makes in reducing buffeting inside the car with the top down. Its benefits are most noticeable at speeds in excess of 55 MPH. I've driven the car up to 80 MPH on the freeway and wind buffeting in the car at that speed is significantly reduced. I tested the device by placing some loose paper in the front passenger side seat. With the WindStop installed, the papers remained in the seat and did not blow around. It performed the same test with the WindStop uninstalled and the papers floated around in the car from the buffeting. Windows up and down driving are generally quieter with the WindStop in place.

I put the WindStop back on last night and drove the car with it on again last evening and all day today. The device came off and reinstalled (by myself) easily and had no difficulty handling it during the process. It took just a couple minutes to pull it off and it went back on even quicker. With some practice, I would say the average adult person should be able to install and uninstall in no more than a couple minutes. Only one little negative note, I've noticed a very small friction spot on the plastic facia where the Windstop connects to the bracket. I think this friction point can be avoided by adjusting the mounting bracket just a bit higher.

I've gotten some very positive feedback from several people while out and about. So, far no comments have been negative. In fact, I was at local Chevrolet dealership today talking to visit a freind whose a salesman there. I showed it to him. His eyes perked up and wanted to know where I got it. He thinks he could sell quite a few of them. I told him it was not mine that I was only "test driving" the unit but would ask you if I could give him your name and phone number. As I was leaving the dealership, an older gentleman drove up next to me on the parking lot and asked me where I go it. He stated he has a late model Camaro vert and would like to get one too.

So, my initial opinion is very favorable and would recommend the WindStop to my fellow FBody vert collegues. Two thumbs up for sure!!
